I'm trying to figure out how some one killed your dog two times??? lol

I'm with the crowd, keep your dog in your yard!

I'm also with the crowd that says, I'm sorry you lost your dog....we get waaay too attached to our dogs...

Lots of emotions for a real simple thing. Dog on a 55 mph road= dead dog. Grow up and build a fence.

Or get cats, but they become buzzard food on an expressway too.

Call me a misogynist (which I'm not) or whatever, but women respect men who tell them NO.
It would benefit both you and your next dog, not to mention your marriage, to do what you KNOW is necessary.

Losing a pet is one of the most awful things anyone could ever experience. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I had to let that one go because I immediately thought of idiots who thought they had a right to tell the rest of the idiots what to think.

Watching Judge Judy about 5 years ago, a young lady brought a young man to court because he hit her dog with a car while the lady was walking it. It happen to be off a leash and on the road a few feet and the guy swerved to hit it. He got off because dogs aren't supposed to play in the road, although what do animals know. Dogs need to be trained and there are drivers who wouldn't bat an eye at drilling a dog.

I have the feeling this thread has turned a little ugly.

As I understand it, this person has had 2 pets run over and killed because they were loose on the road. True, there are some personal responsibility issues here but that doesn't lessen the loss felt over a beloved pet.

I would encourage her to not own another pet until she is willing to provide proper safety but this doesn't mean I can't feel some degree of compassion. Condemning her is not exactly taking the high road. She is already hurting and there isn't much benefit to be gained by making her feel even worse.

Jix, I hope you can just hold your wife and tell her you are sorry she lost her dog. Right or wrong, husbands and wives should be able to turn to each other for understanding, support and forgiveness. She needs to know that you will be her refuge.

I'm still in the personal responsibility camp. It is a harsh camp, many just can't bring themselves to live there.
