Kioti DK 35 now
Got the "fill" in. Dozer friend said I needed to pack her down with the little tractor, well this guy weighs in at over 8500#, where my Kioti barely make over 4500#. SOOOO I figured , A/C, radio and CUP HOLDER.:D

A few good rain storms will do more than any type of equipment, but yeah I guess the Hummer will do for now :)

What do yo plan to do there, build something or just park, or lawn ?

Building a shop.

As far as rain, I would ask you "what is rain " but Thankfully it is raining as I type, First measurable rain this year for me, out side of a little ice storm we had.

I was fixing to run a water line down, but fortunately held off to see if this forecast would turn in to anything, I am a little worried about the water depth of my well.

After the water has a couple of days to set in, I will go back over the slab area again.

I used a Golf Cart in the past to do this :) Worked good.

If your tractor has AGs, alternate between it and the auto. Yould be surprised the intensity of pressure on AG tread bars.

I think you are a little mistaken on that weight. I believe the H2 weighed in somewhere around 6400 lbs with a GVW of about 8600. So still more weight, just not as much more as you thought - unless you had a bunch of paver blocks or something loaded in the back of the Hummer.

Good suggestion, is about the PSI as well as the total weight.

A human shoe heel probably excerts more PSI the D8 dozer.

Let's see, I got an idea. When this job is complete get some R-1 tires, a disk, a drag spring tooth and a drag harrow and you are nearly in the farming business.

You are correct, 6400+ #

Yep , dozers are made for walking, even as heavy as his was, the truck still was able to get an inch or so in.

After the rain last night, it is like concrete, tractor only leaves tread marks:thumbsup: Now I have a BUNCH of sand to move. Yeah!!

Love the Kioti, but cant beat the comfort of the boat puller.:D

Put your toe under one of the grouser bars and tell me if you still believe the heel is heavier. I should be able to hear your response.....

 But I stand by what I said, strictly speaking pounds per square inch. a quick google search came up with 5-10 PSI for dozer. Divide your weight by the area of your heel it will come out to more than the dozer, or close to the same anyway :)

aw heck, a $60,000 Hummer can't be in the same paragraph as the word redneck.....

Holy cow! All these years and now I finally see something a Hummer does well.;)

Did I ever tell you that my first vehicle as a teen in the '60s was a Hummer? Seriously! It really was.

Jim, it also drinks gas well too!!:(

For what I paid for it, it is a wonderful boat puller and hunting truck. Best "roller" I ever bought:laughing:

Saw a guy take an egg, throw a bit of dirt over it, and run a 15,000 lb dozer over it, and it was fine as long as you didn't hit it with the tines. A dozer is good for grading but horrible for compaction. The only way to do it is to compact is in small doses as it's being filled in. If a lot was filled in and compacted later you will have sinking going on for a while.

you are correct.

I didn't realise what a grouser bar was, now I see it's the raised cleat part of the track, so I guess that changes things, much more psi in that narrow area.

Talking about toes getting crushed, I just now went out to the front door to get a package from AWDirect, when I picked it up, a heavy chain hook fell out of the bottom of the box right onto my little toe, (no shoes) I let out a holler and now have a package of frozen sausage on it.
Haven't checked the box, who knows what else fell out in transit
