I sent you a pm with the link again, It works fine for me at least,, It lists all 2500 Dodge's 01 and up w/4sp auto's at 13,700. I have a heavy machine and heavy bumper tow trailer, Problem now is,, with a new Woods 720 rotary cutter, I can't get the tractor and cutter on the trailer,. I like the Bri-Mar trailers, but, they just come out with a 20 footer and this is too short too.
LarryRB,
Do you have a loader on your rig? If so, can you go gooseneck 20 foot trailer? That way your loader can sit on the gooseneck with more weight on the truck's rear axle. Goosenecks sure are sweet to maneuver. I can back up and swing my truck over 180 degrees. A bumper pull is what...........40 or 50, 60 degrees turning radius at most? :( I am sure you already have lights and brakes wired to the bumper, so it wouldn't take much to wire up to the bed for a gooseneck connection. ;) Than a fixed ball hitch is about $300-400. At least down here it runs that much. :)

The problem is cost around here is very extensive compared to most other places. Yes, I have a loader, I have a Kubota L 48 TLB with home made, more or less, cab. Tractor comes in at 8200 lbs. I have a bumper pull 12,000 gvw trailer that is only 18 ft long. I need a lot longer,, I have been thinking about getting a gooseneck with hidden ball set up.,. However, again, what you pay 4 grand for, we pay considerbly more, plus 6% sales tax, expensive trailer plates and insurance to go along with it, Our biggest problem is personal property tax that you pay on top of all other taxes, once each year, I've heard a thousand times, if it is that bad, move elsewhere, Well, we/I have done this too,.. California, Ohio, use to run to Florida ea week so much that I almost could have called it home.. Made a few hundred trips out your way too.. I use to be an owner operator and run the road. Wherever we or I have tried (I, prior to being married) it still isn't home. I also, for medical reasons, have to stay in the northern tiers and the least amounts of dew point... I like Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota also... Never will again convince wife to move several states away and try again.

Dougster, So back to the original post. Have you got your sites set on another machine yet? :) Have the bidding wars started again? :D

First, let me say that I am kinda shocked that your Dodge Ram diesel is only good for ~10,000 lbs (the same as my 2500HD 6.0L gas). Not good at all if you need to haul around close to 14,000 lbs (BRB plus trailer). Looks like much of the problem is in that axle ratio. Sounds like you are confident that the brakes are adequate (I assume together with a nifty trailer braking controller). Anyway, hope you either resolve this fast or decide to stay home for a while... or can talk your way out of a ticket a lot more successfully than moi!!! ;)

In regard to your question... it broke my heart, but I just let a really nice ASV RC-60 slip by on eBay without a serious attempt to win. :( It went for under $17K. But September represents an important milestone for my little business. It's been a whole year, the allocated capital & start-up money is all gone, but the business is still nowhere near cruise control yet. Time to reassess everything and decide where I go from here. Until a new business plan is developed and put in place... at least a few weeks... there will be no further consideration of large capital purchases.

This thread has sure been all over the map! Dougster - backing way up to post #102 - can you explain (or post a reference) showing how to set up this RSS feed?
I use a new program called "Snarfer"! It's pretty straighforward and user friendly (although still a bit buggy and suddenly today I am having some more serious updating problems with it). You can get it here:

Doug, I don't know how you can take it. This is a bunch of garbage. How long has this dirt been there? If it were me I would move it in the middle of the night. "Really officer, I don't know what happened, I woke up this morning and that big ol pile of dirt was gone. I didn't here anything."

Good luck:)

Those pix were taken while standing on the sidewalk opposite my house. It is a monster pile and has been there since early last week.

Like I said: It's just more payback... part of my continuing battle with the town DPW over the defective job they are doing rebuilding the street in front of my house. Mine was the only driveway left blocked for the entire holiday weekend... but let's be clear here: My truck and trailers have been blocked in by various aspects of this neighborhood reconstruction project at least half the days of spring & summer 2007. It's taken some serious patience and creativity to work around this hassle. And there is no question it has cost me a lot of time & money.

But moving the pile in the middle of the night is exactly what they would love for me to do. I guarantee it would mean another theft and/or vandalism complaint by the DPW to the police. I refuse to give them that opportunity.

Boy oh boy. My wife would have to chain me up in the basement if my town ever did that. That pile would be gone so fast, I wouldn't use it or sell it, just hide it from them till they came begging to get it back.

Well, there's finally some good news to report. The DPW just finished taking it all away shortly after 3PM today. :) I feel like I've been let out of jail.

Well it's about time. Now you can write up the invoice for the town. Revenue lost due to their ineptness.

Did the new bucket arrive?????????

Oh, it ain't over yet Ed. Final paving is still coming. In fact, I'm trying to find out exactly when it's going to happen so I can schedule some pending work around this final (hopefully) large disruption.

Not yet. Seller still hasn't received the bank check I sent. I normally use PayPal for everything, but the seller is doing me a big favor using my own shipper... so I bowed to his request for a bank check in lieu of PayPal. It's already cost me a week.

Haven't you ever herd of Priorty Mail. You could have sent it just about overnight for about $10.00.

Disruption will not be over once they are thru paving you know. They will be sitting down the street with camera taking pictures of those that scar up their new pavement. Then the charges will be destruction of public property.

Ok, I am thinking of starting a new thread and I wanted to get some input before I went ahead and did it.

Title: Food donations for the Dirt Poor.

I would like to set up a donation program for food and other things. This would be for the impoverished, retired engineers, of the world. We all realize that they are trying their best but there are times when PB&J are just not enough. We would need to set up a drop off point and also some sort of delivery service. I of course would be willing to give up Lobster and Fillet once a week to help the cause.

Let me know what you all think about the idea maybe we can get something going. :)

Oh man!!! I don't think the moderators or readers want anything to do with that!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one here struggling financially. I just happen to be a little more open about it than most.

Actually had a pretty darn good day here Ed. The hydraulic thumb cylinder finally came in! But bad news for my stomach: I'll be making the trip and picking it up this Friday! :( There goes my free "Lobsta and Fillet Mignon" lunch!!! :(

Also, the biggest job I'd quoted all summer finally came through. I start work on the 17th. Another job came back to life as well (one that had been postponed indefinitely due to my foot injury). Makes me wonder if I can resurrect one of the other cancelled jobs as well. I should at least drive by and see if they had someone else do the work.

Best news of all: The truck and equipment trailer are fixed, tested and functional again... so I finally get to pickup my new tiller tomorrow. Does it get any better than that??? :)

Had such a good day today that I went out and bought some Skippy "Super Chunk" peanut butter (on sale: 18 oz. just $1.00) and fresh bread! Gonna be eating the good stuff tonight! :D

Well you're full of good news today. Too bad about Friday, I had the lobsters just chillin' waiting for the call. Guess I'll just have to eat them myself.
Good to hear that work is on the up swing. :)
I was wondering if things kept going the way they were going if you were gonna have to get some of that peanut butter the government gives away.
Now all ya need is for the new bucket to show up.

Went and looked at that Bush Hog on Friday. Wasn't really that rusty. Problem was a bad case of swayback. It was an older unit and it had started to sag along the center line just in front of the gear box. Some of the angles on the top deck were starting too show signs of fatigue. So I just walked away. No harm done just 5 minutes out of the way. I don't have enoughtime at home as it is let alone spend the weekend working on broken equipment. If I have to do that I don't get any time to play, I mean work with my tractor. Like this weekend. All day Saturday playing with round bales.

Funny, but the day started out nasty. Gotta admit that I was really hitting rock bottom by about noon today. Then the phone started ringing and my luck seemed to change 180 degrees. Suddenly everything started falling into place (more than mentioned above). Very strange. :) Felt like I should run out and buy another lottery ticket while my luck was flying high for a change! ;)
