Looks like i'm a day late catching up here. Dougster, did you get your tiller? I was in Manch all day yesterday, and thought about taking a ride down to TSC just to browse. Heck.... since you are so dirt poor, i'd have gladly offered to cross the street and pick up coffee for us both (and a plain munchkin for my buddy). One thing we Do have over Texas...... Dunkin Donuts ! Hope you weren't upset that i vandalized your tiller while it was sitting there.

And tillers of that size usually cost a lot more than that. I was quoted close to $4,000 for a couple of the "prestige" brands. Even for a "KK"... $1,300.00 is dang cheap! Regular TSC price is $1,600.00. One dealer in MA wants $2,000.00 for the same exact model with just a bit more fading and rust.

I was thinking $4-6000 for a tiller. I am glad you got that one at that price. One thing about KK, you can go online and order parts. At least I have for box blade mounts. Something about backing up in 3rd and hitting an unseen stump that was cut about an inch above the ground.

No diesel and no Allison transmission. You know how poor I am. I'm lucky I've got any pick-up truck at all.

But let me get this straight! Are you currently legal pulling the Big Red Beast around? Or not? Given that you've pretty much gone "deluxe" on everything including that nifty red gooseneck trailer, I'd assumed that you were meeting any and all rules! No???

I guess the Allison is just with the diesel. Right now, according to the little manual in my trucks glove compartment, I am pulling 3900 pounds too much for the truck transmission, engine, rear axle combination. I have now found out that if you are in an accident, you will be blamed for the accident and ticketed by DPS because your truck is not rated to pull that much trailer weight. It really is a gray area. My truck with a manual transmission and a lower geared axle, will pull the rated load legally. I need one more year so I won't be unside down in a trade in on a new or used Cummins with the 6.7 liter diesel. Mine is a 5.9 liter. The 6.7 puts out 650 pounds of torque at 1500 rpm with the 6 speed automatic and 350 horsepower. When I bought the truck, I asked the salesman how much it would pull and he stated 13,000 pounds. So I bought it and then read it only is rated to pull 9800 pounds. But everyone I talked to that has one like mine, say it will pull 13,700 with no problem, which is what the Big Red Beast and the gooseneck weigh. My trailer is rated for 14,000 pounds. Stopping power is what would be a problem that could lead to an accident, so I travel way slower and leave plenty of stopping room. But all the 2002 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups have the same 4 disc brakes, so DPS would be just assuming I am the person to blame.

Nope... didn't get up there yesterday. Not only was my equipment trailer still effectively blocked in by the town's one remaining monster loam pile left in the middle of the street... but suddenly I am having some sort of tire or suspension problem with the truck. Dang thing is vibrating on the road like an out-of-control bucking bronco. Need to check it out quickly but leaving town today to visit the old folks. Maybe I'll have some answers by mid-day tomorrow.

You can afford Dunkin Donuts??? My Gawd man... that's a treat I haven't had in ages. Must be nice to have an income.

A 6 foot tiller should fit into a pickup bed. Unless you have that full and don't want to emtpy it out. TSC should have a fork lift to load it.

Brandi, you have Double Ds down there??!!! I'm shocked. They are mostly a northeast thing, or so i thought. I know a few years back, when i regularly ran out to Michigan.... i had a heck of a time finding one anywhere out there. I hit the ONE they had in Toledo on the way back.... was the best i could ever do. My apologies ! Now..... i guess we have nothing on Texas here.

Well, a lot of folks would say that "KK" implements are not appropriate for a Beast the size and power of the 6520. Too easy for the 6520 to crunch the KK stuff into tangled yellow steel works of modern art.

I didn't do it with the 6520, but my old gone but not forgotten 54 hp Ford 3055. As usual, I was trying to get a few extra minutes work in before dark. That time of day is when I do my operator error stuff. In a hurry, you know. No KK has touched my Big Red Beast. The KK 6 ft BB is sitting there with a for sale sign on it. I am so efficent with the 7 ft wide loader bucket, I have a hard time convincing myself to pull the BH off, install the 3PH arms and hook up to a BB that is narrower than my rear thread print. But, stop the presses, I could maybe attach the BB to my 511 BH bucket.

Well, in Houston there are Double Ds. I would say there are none within 30 miles of here. Ya gotta remember, Texas is a state of mind. Come on down. You take East Texas and I will take West Texas.

You posted a bad link. My truck is a 2002 Ram 2500, not a 3500 & has a 4 speed automatic. I don't remember which axle I have. My truck and books are in Austin and I have my daughter's truck for some maintenace this week.

I sent you a pm with the link again, It works fine for me at least,, It lists all 2500 Dodge's 01 and up w/4sp auto's at 13,700. I have a heavy machine and heavy bumper tow trailer, Problem now is,, with a new Woods 720 rotary cutter, I can't get the tractor and cutter on the trailer,. I like the Bri-Mar trailers, but, they just come out with a 20 footer and this is too short too.

I can appreciate that. It's probably why I now own four FEL buckets plus a grapple! Much easier to change FEL buckets than dump the backhoe to mount a 3-point implement for a lot of jobs... and I don't even have the joyous task of installing and removing the 3-point arms!

On the other hand, I love having the BH off and the 3-point available for the bigger grading jobs. No way I can do nearly as pretty a job with any of the buckets alone.

I offered to take a pic the other day for Ed. Should have done so. It would have been perfect because the 20-ft equipment trailer was connected to the truck and you could clearly see the impossible task of manuvering it out around that monster pile in the middle of the street.

Unfortunately, I gave up, pulled the trailer as far forward as possible, disconnected it from the truck and drove the truck around the back of the house to free it up from it's "trapped" situation. I could take a pic today, but it wouldn't quite give the full effect!

I found the link. Thanks. It didn't want to paste into the PM. As you can see below, if you go into specifics on the webpage, you can find the weight for my truck of 9750 towable pounds. Fifty pounds less than the owner's manual uses. I have the 3.55 axle. So it is all about how much the axle and tranny can strain and pull, nothing else. So I haven't pulled it far from home. My Texas Farm Bureau insurance on the tractor and trailer only covers a 50 mile area, unless I can prove it is going to a friends house and not a construction job.
So I am making my face seen at the dealer drooling over the 6.9 Cummins.
When I got the truck, I didn't even imagine I would be pulling a 14,000 pound trailer grossed out now!
