My New Machine???

Shucks, I was going to offer you a pot of coffee when you came thru, but it doesn't look like I need to fire the coffee pot up just yet. I don't know what it would cost to haul that thing out of Florida, but I bet you you can get it to Atlanta or Savannah cheaper than you can drive down and get it. From there north, it is another deal, but coming out of Florida is usually cheap.

The 7520 is supposedly 6-1/2 feet wide and weighs 7,350 lbs... tires drained and without an FEL... so yes, I can theoretically move it with my 20-foot, 10K equipment trailer. However, I wouldn't. It's just too far, my equipment is too marginal... and there are just too many possibilities for something to go wrong. Besides, my own total "soup-to-nuts" moving cost is probably not that much less than professional moving cost. I'm old and do not drive hard, long or fast anymore.

If this machine were local and had an FEL, I'd own it by now. Sitting in Florida without an FEL and having a few issues to investigate (requiring a flight down and back to resolve)... well, you don't realize how fast the tab adds up until you price it all out.

Not giving up yet, but I'm no longer dancing the victory dance in my kitchen. :(

Dougster, did you get any pictures of the left side of this tractor?

I find it strange the seller would post two pictures of the right side and two of the front right corner but none of the back or left side. And having 4 negatives out of 85 unique transactions would make me worry. You always get the occasional idiot who will leave negative feedback for a stupid reason but you don't usually get 4 in less then 100 transactions. I would think there is some merit to the complaints and the lack of left side pictures almost seems like he is hiding it.

If I was in your spot I would either start looking at new units or hold out for another used tractor closer to you that you can inspect easily. One other option is to have a TBN member near this seller go check it out for you.

No pix of the left side yet. If this thing does go much further, it wouldn't be a bad idea to request some. And if you look closely at those feedback negatives, they seem pretty lame... some outright trivial. I am in contact with the seller and I am satisfied he is legit. Plus if I buy this tractor, it will be a face-to-face transaction only after I inspect the tractor and all the paperwork. I am not afraid to walk away from an eBay deal if there are problems that can't be resolved.

The bigger issue is total outfitted and delivered price. It has got to be significantly better than buying new to make it all worthwhile. And yes you are correct: You can make a very good case that a brand new machine outfitted specifically for my needs could actually work out cheaper and better in the long run. New machines are very attractively priced right now.

I'd also be buying this monster machine a good two years before I really need it. And by doing so, I'd also be forfeiting the option of buying a different machine that could help my struggling business a lot more in the short term. Add in the business use, depreciation and tax issues... and this is by no means a simple decision.

Didn't you want industrial tires anyway?
My God man... You've got a memory like an elephant!!! :)

Yes, for my purposes, industrials would be far better. But I doubt I will be lucky enough to find any on a used machine the size of the 7520. Reality is that most are going to have aggies.

Just another reason to buy new. Let's see, purchase new and get what you want.:) The correct loader, correct backhoe, correct tires, 6 sets of rear wheel weights, 3 rear remotes, front electric remote for that new bigger grapple:D, front jerry can weights for those times when you don't really want that big ol loader on while your flail mowing those 100's of acres that you want too keep manicured. ( just because it looks so good ) Let's see, did I forget anything. Orrrr, buy used and get, uh whatever.:(

You know that I am only kidding, just giving you an extra hard time. :p Good luck with your search and I hope that you come across a killer deal on both smaller and larger machines.;)

And by the way... tonight's trivia question for the 20-Series crowd: How come you can get a 509/511 backhoe on a 6520 4WD and a 7520 4WD... but not on a 5520 4WD???

These sorts of questions bother me...

Dougster,
My guess is that the 5520 uses the ML255 loader and they haven't designed the 511 BH subframe yet to bolt up to the ML255 loader frame :p :D

Man, you rich left coast folks really know how to spend my money! :D Money that I don't even have!!! I figure that deluxe "suite" of equipment and implements comes to more than the value of my entire house!!!

Brian, I think you know enough to know that I would need one of those true "killer deals" for me to be riding high in a monster 7520 two years before I expect to sell my Taxachusetts house and move to the land of "Live Free or Die" where such a machine makes total sense. My current situation is not exactly conducive to purchasing a brand new monster machine even at a very attactive discount. My focus is still mainly on other machines (ASV RC-30? RC-50? JD110? CBL40?) that could give my struggling little business a badly needed shot in the arm. Still, my admiration for the monster 20-Series machines and the temptation to jump ahead into New Hampshire "mode" a little early should not be underestimated! ;)

Clearly the 2WD and 4WD versions of the 5520 *do* use the same ML255 loader... a rare, if not unique, situation within the Mahindra world. I hope the explanation is not as you guess... that they just ran short of time or interest in designing a 5520 4WD loader to accept a BH subframe :D ... but Lord knows you could be right. I just think a 5520 4WD with a 511 backhoe could be one VERY nice set-up! :) As maybe you can tell... I like the full platform Mahindras best! :)
