Hey TBNrs,

Found most of my tractor time tended to be after dark so I installed some extra lights.

Two mounted high on the ROPS for loader work. Here I used two pre- existing threaded holes in the ROPS to mount to. I wired two new fused circuits to waterproof switches on the dash, one is an extra for later. Also while I had it apart I wired a 12V receptacle.

For the rear I mounted them in the existing holes in the fenders. I wired them into the factory harness so they are switched with the headlight switch. All 4 are 35W rubber housing and have proven very durable, providing all the extra light I need.

Overall I have been very pleased with the project. I don't know what I will ever need the extra fused switch for, but it took the most time getting into the bodywork for the wiring so I figured I might as well take advantage of it while in there.

Attached are a couple pics.

Cool, where did you get those switches? Also, what kind of lights are those? They look much better then my cheapy HF lights.

Nice looking install. The switches look like original equipment.

Good looking clean install BUT... it wouldn't last me long as I'd break them off on branches. I'd have to build protective boxes and put a "stone guard" in front of the lenses like came on early Corvette headlights.

Thanks for the replies guys,

The lights and switches all came from my local NAPA. The switches I had used on my fishing boat years ago and worked very very well, they are enclosed in rubber and never failed me in 3 years, so I got some more for this install.

Don't worry too much Patrick_G, these lights are rubber, the lenses pop into and out of them without breaking. They are pretty much a standard tractor work light up here. I have smacked them on all sorts of branches. You can't see in the picture but I even used rubber washers where the brackets mount to the ROPS, for a little more give. All four lights are mounted just a little loose so I can adjust them at anytime, helps after wacking on on a branch or tree. The thing is if I haven't got the ROPS stuck on a tree I haven't yet hurt my lights.

I did think about rigging a mount for inside the ROPS but the pre-existing threaded holes were just too easy, Bent some flat stock and actually they were leftover rubber shock bushings, not washers, and Tadda Done.

i just bought a portable golight(remote controlled spotlight) to track deer from my truck with but i believe it will also work great on my new holland ts110 canopy. im lookin forward to plow season round here so i can try it out.

wow for a second there I thought those were pics of my machine. Nice install. I did about the same on my 1070. If you have all of them on for awhile make sure you shut them down and recharge the battery. 20amp alternator does not keep up.

Spot lighting deer from a vehicle is illegal here in Ohio.

Is it illegal when there is no shooting involved?

Does that include flash photography?

How about time exposure flash photography?

How long must the photo light be on to constitute spotlighting?

What happens if you shine a light in the woods to check for bears, your kids, or water buffalo and "accidentally" illuminate a deer? Is it a victimless crime?

I see what you mean, John. PETA keeps some pretty high powered legal beagles on retainer and would undoubtedly get them to represent the deer.

Maryland has the same stupid spotlighting law. I remember my dad pulling the truck into a field many many times with his lights on high to "turn around" when there just happened to be deer in the field.

dtd24, very good advice on the lack of alternator power, they are 35w apeice and I don' run them all at once. The fronts for loader work and the rears for backing up or hitching up, I also wired one of the rears with a quick diconnect so I can unplug it in seconds and have just the one rear if I'm going to be doing alot of forward backward, like plowing snow. So far no issues.

In maine it is unlawful to use artificial lights from September 1 to December 15, 1/2 hour after sunset until 1/2 hour before sunrise to illuminate, jack, locate, attempt to locate or show up wild animals or wild birds except raccoons which may be hunted at night with electric flashlights during the open season. As far as using the light on your tractor during this time, you would certainly not want to have a gun around. But one must be able to work safely at night. Most of our game wardens use common sense they are looking to stop poaching etc.

The rest of the year we ride around in the pickup spotlighting em.

You are not likely to kill a deer with a light. If there are no weapons involved or in possession at the scene, what is the real issue?

I do not favor poaching and would gladly back capital punishment for poachers (and trespassers), I just fail to see the point of the law as illustrated in this thread. If there are no weapons, how is the animal harmed.

Ok, you're out in the woods hunting raccoons with a light and a shotgun when you hear a noise in the brush and turn the light on it to see what it is, a bear, raccoon, big foot, health conscious extraterrestrial mutilating tofu, escaped convict, or what and it is a deer. OOOOOH, sure hope the game warden isn't watching.

The duration of light question posted earlier relates to a game camera with a flash.

For lighting a deer up to be a criminal act does it have to involve active participation by a human? What if the deer sets off my security lights, IR motiion detect type?

Larry, To what do you refer? Are you commenting on the bit about deer setting off my security lights?

I have 3 IR motion detector coach light style porch lights on the front porch. Wildlife are always setting off one or more of them. Some nights it is a veritable light show, with them going off in sequence over and over as some warm blooded animals walks along the porch. This is often raccoons but we have had deer within a few feet of the porch too.

Wouldn't this be considered wildlife harassing people?
