My Hour meter runs when the Engine is not??

Welcome to the club. :)

Mine was on overnight, 17 hours, I just wrote it down in my maint. sheet so i'd remember and adjusted the intervals.

I left mine on overnight, too. I estimated how many hours it was on, then I disconnected it and kept up with the running hours on paper until it caught up. I like the idea of a tach/hour meter. Maybe I'll install one at the 500 hour mark so I can easily track the total.

You could wire the hour meter to the oil pressure switch which is already on the engine, but not connected to anything. Just thought of that one.

If you do this be aware that the oil pressure switch is on when there is no oil pressure and the switch controls ground. You would probably have to use a relay to control the hour meter. Also make sure the key switch turns the relay off and the power meter off when the key switch is off so the battery does not run down.

And we're not worried about the safety issue of leaving a PT unattended with a key in the ignition because...?

All the best,

The PT is locked in my shed, which is filled with man-killer traps like machettes, bow saws and pitchforks hanging all over the place and plenty of stuff to trip over and impale yourself. Its like a set from an Indiana Jones temple trap in there!

But seriously, I always take the key with me, but just forgot that day.:)
