I made a box wedge and it failed. Do your homework better than I did.

It would help if you would give some details as to why it failed. It is important because the price of sharpening steel for wedges on in milling shop is high, which makes errors in design quite expensive. Some pictures would also help. Thank you.

It pinched the wood. I really don’t think box wedges are a good idea. My phone all the pictures were on is no longer with us. The failed box wedge got scrapped. All hope isn’t lost. I posted pictures of it probably a year ago so you should be able to find them. My iPhone app has reduced privileges and I can’t do it, but I think I started a thread with it and you could narrow down the search by clicking on my name and then clicking the threads started link.

I burned the Ponderosa pine I have here on my place for the first 12 or so years. Then the harvesting got to be just too much and my pines are all enormous ancient stuff. Range from 32" up to 42" on the butt. I had a logger harvest them - I made a lot of money on the deal - went to all electric heat. All I have to do is turn the dial on the thermostat.
