A true expression of the love for an animal. And how they will become an integral part of your life.

When I was very little my parents got a St Bernard and she lived quite long for that breed. I have always had a dog(s) but now we are dogless. We had to put our last one down about a month ago. She was 6 when we rescued her and she lasted 10 more years and she was a great dog. We still miss her but it is getting better.

True country life can be really tough on a dog. I've lost four dogs in my 42+ years out here. The best I can do is have a dog that lives indoors with me and only goes out when I go out with them. There simply is no affordable fencing system that can keep all of natures critters away from the dogs.

The neighbor has an answer to this. He has four dogs and they seem to be able to fend for themselves. They also keep the coyotes away from the new born calves. But it is always an ongoing struggle.
