I bought a home made 4x7 trailer that was setup to tilt to load a four wheeler. It had 12" solid metal sides and a wooden floor. Then I added 2x12s to the top of the metal sides to increase capacity for light materials and decrease blowout of heavy materials. I also added some support the tongue and front of the trailer and added a 3 ton long bottle jack to dump the load. It has a 3500 pound capacity axle and springs. The original owner replaced the tires with some on 12" wheels. I found that 14" Ford Escort wheels fit the bolt pattern so I increased the size of the center hole on a set until they fit.

In the future I plan to remove the rust and repaint it, find some 14" truck tires for higher capacity and replace the one piece tailgate with a hinged two piece gate.

It moved roughly 3.5 yards of dirt for my daughters garden in 3 trips a few weeks ago. The dirt was wet so some of it stuck but it was much easier than shoveling it all!

So far I have about $400 invested in it.
