My tc35d arrived yesterday. A funny story here too. I was coming home from work to meet the delivery and about 2 miles from home I came up on this truck with a beautiful blue tractor on it. Yes it was mine! I got to follow it home for 2 miles. Perfect timing don't ya'll think.
Got it off the truck and no smoking(like a earlier thread) Full of fuel, grease fittings all lubed-up, a little dirt from sitting outside. I washed and waxed her up. Read the OM last night. Pretty straight forward. Invited a fwe neighbors over to show them the new baby and the proud father. Let one man take it for a spin. Played with the cool speed shifting switch.
One thing though, as the tractor was going away, the sound of the smooth running motor faded, but the whine from the hydro hardly faded at all, especially in the faster gear. I guess this is normal? Just a breakin stage?
I made some room in the garage infront of my truck for it and it just barely fits. The ROPS actually just touches the garage door bottom, I might have to adjust the opener to open it just a touch further.
I went out after dark last night and tested out the headlights. Pretty good, but with the loader I'm pretty sure I'm going to add some ROPS mounted halogen lights. Is there a thread on doing this on the TC's?

The NH 0% financing for 12 months certinally looks like a great deal. I took advantage of it.

gmason,
Congratulations on your new addition, I'll bet you'll have fun learning the ins and outs of the loader and everything else. Did you buy locally?

Too busy on other projects to play with my new Blue baby.
Yes I ended up getting it from a local dealer. 1) they had it in stock and with the 16la already installed(they had it for a local farm show) 2) price was $16,800 out the door 3) got the 50hr check/fluid change free and pick-up and delivered.

Peter/All thanks. But Peter, if I wanted to just put the lights on the same switch of the headlights, can I just connect to one of the wires already there, or do I need a new fuse?
I plan on mounting mine inside/under the ROPS. I don't think my head would get in the way. BTW, on the TC25/33's the rear flashers lights are on a break-loose. So if you hit/push them good they snap/spring then snap/swing back. But the TC35/40 didn't?? what's-up with that??
I almost had the dealer throw that in too, ie. take the tail lights off one of the tc33's and put them on mine.
Maybe one day I'll wish I had.

Congratulations! You just bought the best looking compact diesel around. I have a 40D. About the whine, mine is pretty noticeable also. I even went back to the dealer and drove another one just to make sure I hadn't gotten a lemon. That one did the same also. I posted last week inquiring if anyone has switched to the NH 200 hydro fluid or to a synthetic to see if that would help, but no heplful replies yet.

On your lights. There's plenty of posts on adding them. I bought the NH bracket (the $17 not $50-70 one) but had to make some modifications to it to attach it to the ROPS near the flasher. You'll probably read about others who went all out and mounted driving lights to the inside of the ROPS at the top. I didn't need so much light so the dealer supplied light, $25, worked fine. This rear light is a good deal since the farm stores around here sell the same one, without the pushbutton switch, for the same price. The wires for it are tucked under the gray plastic shift console, attached to the right fender. The NH light even comes with the crimp lugs.

The 25/33 lights don't have the red running light. These tractors use a separate larger red light mounted in the fender. Actually I like this set-up better because you get the breakaway flashers and a larger red running lamp. Anyway, if you switch you'd have to add the red fender lamps.

Enjoy your baby.

Thanks djradz,
Keep me posted on the hyrdo whinning issue please.
I ordered some nice looking slim profile 55watt flood lights from JCWHITNEY last night for 29.99 with a rocker switch. I guess I'll have to did into the wiring diagrams in the back of the OM. I like the look of attaching them to the underside of the top of the ROPS.
But the regular headlights really do a good job until the loader gets in the way.

The wiring diagrams take a little to get used to but once you've figured out the symbology, they are pretty useful. Everything starts up front, goes through the main 40 amp fuse, and fans out from there. The numbers in the boxes are references for wires that go between the sheets of the manual. A few people have talked about using the spare rocker switch plugged holes in the dash for extra switches, but I haven't looked into this. Good luck.

gmason,
Did you get your tractor brand new? If so that's a very good price! Heck, it's great even slightly used.

djradz, I'm sitting here looking at the diagrams and trying to make out some of the abreviations and codes folloing some of the lines/wires.
I figured out some of the codes for the color of the wire
R-red
DB-dark blue
B-black
W-white
BK-??
T-??
O-orange??
V-??
I'm no EE so this is somewhat confusing without a better diagram key. Any help ya'll??
Is there a web site to make since out of all these DC objects.
Like what is this

It looks like a capital T with droopy ears, and has something to do with a switch. Or what does it maen when there are dotted lines around an object? What are the square boxes with single letters in them, like M,N,E,T , there not unique like there identifiers to a certain link but they all terminate at that box??
thanks

I added a new item to the NH lights topic today, and started on about the 16la bucket.

Great symbols gmason. I don't have my book with me so I'll write you back early next week. I don't know of any website, but I think I'll be able to explain all the symbols to you anyway, For now, the colors are:
R-red
DB-dark blue
B-(black) nope it's BLUE
W-white
BK-(??) BLACK
T-(??) TURQUIOSE
O-orange?? YES
V-(??) VIOLET

Also, you'll note that the ends of many of the wires, when you look on the tractor, are also numbered. Look at the alternator connector wires as an example. I was really impressed as even the auto manufacturers don't go to that extreme. The M,N,E,T are devices on the tractor. Like a sensor, transducer, switch or light. I'll give you the key, as best as I know, when I bring in my book next week. Happy electricalling till then. ....Duane

That whine you hear is inherent in many hydrostatic drive units. A John Deere front deck mower I use occasionally has a lot of it. By far the quietest and to this date the best designed one I have tried is the one on Kubota L4610. Not only is it quieter then any other I've tried, but surely the smoothest and easiest to press regardless of load. By the time I get to a new tractor, maybe the New Hollands will have caught up and I will consider one. I like many things about the new New Hollands, the hydrostatic drive is not one of them. I don't know if I'm lucky or what, but my Boomer HST is not loud at all. The engine is certainly louder than the HST. Plus the pedal effort is super smooth. I like the twin pedal set up. My only problems have been a loud whine sound that seems to have been fixed (after I lubed the front driveshaft area) and a pedal that sticks down when cold (since then fixed by higher return spring tension). The pedal effort is still quite light in my opinion. No HST complaints from this Boomer pilot.

OK, here's the lowdown:

The symbol you referred to as a T with dog-ears is NH's version of the ground symbol. NH, like automotive manufacturers use such a connection to the tractor frame to complete the circuit, rather than running another wire back to the battery. Since the negative side of the battery is also tied to the frame, this completes the circuit.

The other main thing you need to understand is the connection of wires from one page of the wiring diagrams to the next. If you note in the lower-left corner of each page is a "Frame #". This designation is used throughout the diagrams. On every page (frame) there are references in a box such as FR.3, D. This means this wire (HM-31-BK-18), which is on page, Frame-1, connects to a similar point on Frame-3, point D. If you look on Frame 3 you'll find a similar box with a FR1, D, label.

My suggestion is, if you want to understand the electrical system completely, start on Frame 1, where the battery, G-01, the alternator G-2, and the other main system components like the starter, main fuse, and other parts are located. Then branch out from there. Note the wire designations, which carry on from page to page. These are further explained on Frame-8. (Just a note, I see I gave you the wrong color code for T, as it actually stands for TAN). Good luck with your new toy, er ah, essential piece of equipment. If you have further questions, I'll do my best.

I am interested in the 35d and would like to store it in my gaurage. Do you have the fold ROP and if so will it fit under a 6'6" door?

shakieg, this is a great question, and my answer is even better. With the ROPS up my tc35d with r4s is within 1/2" from the door bottom. Unfortunatly, the wrong side of the 1/2" /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif . I have a door opener on this garage door so it's more rigid, but I can nudge the door up the extra 3/4" to get my ROPS under the door. I noticed yesterday that there's another bolt hole on the bracket where the opener attaches to the door that might open it just the amount I need. Don't know if this would have any affect on the normal operation of the door. We'll see....
Sorry but I don't have the height of the door right now, but I'll take a looksee tonight.
