LD1,
Do you have access to thread gauges so that you can identify what style of fitting this is for the benefit of other people with Kubotas.

That will be the plan. I don't think it's metric. On paper, metric is BIGGER, and in combination with thread pitch further off, I don't think I could put a 1/4 NPSM fitting on so easily if metric.

I am leaning toward 1/4 BSPP if it isn't 1/4 NPSM. but are those made in a mechanical inverted flare 30* seat like NPSM fittings?

I'll hopefully know more this afternoon when I can get time to work on it.

I think if you look at hyd npt male end you well see a 30 deg. cut in the I.D.

Hopefully these attachments will show the two different Japanese 30 degree inverted flare options. Also included the NPSM for reference.

M14 x 1.5 = 16.9 TPI .55 OD (TPI = Threads per Inch)

Parallel pipe 1/4 - 19 = 19 TPI . 52 OD

American NPSM 1/4 -18 = 18 TPI .54 OD

All very very similar

Forgot my thread pitch gauges at work, but who needs them when you have taps.

1/4-18 for reference

And here is a metric tap with a 1.5mm pitch

I think 1/4-18npsm is what it is. Here is a fitting vs the hose

Fittings go on and tighten properly. So that's what I'll use and I am confident it isn't gonna leak.

LD1,
In looking at those pictures I agree it does appear to be NPSM. This kind of surprises me on a Japanese tractor.

appreciate you taking the time to post the pictures.

Just an update, installed hoses with NPSM ends. No issues and no leaks. Everthing tightened down as it should
