Really 2 questions.

I have a 2001 mx5000dt w 221 hours. When under a heavy load or if I quickly hit the floor throttle it will blow bluefish/white smoke. It will do this even at full operating temperature. Is this normal? Otherwise, it seems to run and sound fine.

Also, I noticed this weekend it blows a little smoke on the back side of the engine on the brake side and in a downward direction. I believe it stops after several minutes. I was only moving some brush after the ice storm so not under any type of load. It was doing this at idle when I noticed it. Any idea is this also normal?

Now a little history on the engine. It had a rebuild done by a qualified diesel mechanic about 50 hours ago due to a lower radiator hose blowing off while bush hogging.

How about coolant?

Your injection pump may need to be timed.
The smoke at the back of the engine could be coming from a blow bye pipe, if it has one.

Has the smoke been there since the rebuild? How many hours since rebuild?
