Here are some auction results over the past few years.

2013 and 136 hours with OCD are good selling points. You could prob get more trying to sell on your own and using his $$ as a mental "stop" failsafe price.

Trading it in would be the easiest way to go. I might sit on his email to see if I can think of there's any way I can work the deal a bit. He'll be making a few bucks off the trade and then whatever they make off the MX. He also offered prices for the implements and they seemed pretty fair.

Was quoted:
MX5800HST w/R4 industrial tires
3 sets of weigths
LA1065 loader w/72 HD round back bucket w/bolt on cutting edge
Landpride PFL2042 pallet forks
$33,485.00 + 2,427.66 sales tax + $225.00 doc fees = $36,137.66

Wish you could find a used MX5100 with a loader and low hours for the low 20's or even 20. Toss on a backhoe and you're good to go. I understand the OCD desire to buy new because I share it myself buy there are alternatives worth looking into. Just my two cents here.

Be aware that all three current MXs have the exact same hydraulics. Same pump, same loader, same 3pt, same lifting capacities. I don't do enough ground-engaging tasks that the extra HP makes much difference. At least not enough to justify the price jump.

Also remember that rim guard is a lot heavier than most of the alternative liquid ballasts and way cheaper than cast iron wheel weights.

Lastly, around here there are lots of used SSQA forks for sale in the $3-400 range. I bought mine with the tractor too (for $900) and wish I hadn't.

Just realized your location. What dealer are you pricing at if you don't mind sharing?

I wish I had the extra 7 hp of the mx5800 sometimes. Pulling my disc at full depth....it don't like medium range. Also when pulling the 8' rotary cutter through thick stuff....more power would allow faster speed.

They drink alot more fuel though. I went from about 1 gallon per hour with my L3400 to about 2.5 gal/hr on the MX. So keep that in mind

Rimguard is cheaper than cast weights, BUT weights pretty much last forever, and are always going to be valuable. Rimguard works very well, but if you puncture a tire or tear off a valve stem, you can spill it, and also if you want to take the tire in for service, you can't just unbolt the fluid, like you can with weights. Plus, shops generally charge more for the hassle of dealing with it. I have rimguard, and when I was purchasing my tractor, I didn't even check the price difference, but now I wish I had.

That is a very good point - can mostly find a set on craigslist or even at some smaller used implement dealers and save a few bucks. Good luck on your search!

Good points on the SSQA forks. I would consider used, for the lower cost, but the 0% financing from Kubota is a nice option to have.

I waited over 6 months to score a set of QA forks used off Craigslist and was extremely fortunate. I just by chance was off on the Friday morning they were listed and contacted the owner. Picked them up within 4 hours of the listing. If you are patient deals are out there but you still have to be lucky. I certainly understand the allure of financing the forks now. Good luck and keep us posted.

Around the motor size topic:
MX4800 - $33,542
MX5200 - $34,696
MX5800 - $36,176

These are all priced with the same options, just a change in engine size.

Are they all the same cid and the difference in HP is just fuel delivery?

I'm guessing maybe the boost from the turbocharger. Which would add more fuel etc. But all 3 list direct injection.

For what its worth according to tractordata

MX4800...........V2403CR engine.......2.4L non turbo
MX5200...........V2403CR-T ..............2.4L Turbo
MX5800...........V2403CR-T...............2.4L turbo

MX4700............V2403M..................2.4L non turbo
MX5100............V2403M-T...............2.4L turbo

The information from the dealer is:
MX4800 - V2403CR - non turbo
MX5200 - V2403CR - turbo
MX5800 - V2403-CR-TE4-MX3 - turbo

So I'd guess just more boost.

What options would be good, "no brainers" for this machine? Any reason for rear remotes or extra front remotes? I could see a rear remote being handy if I had an implement that needed hydro but I currently do not have anything like that.

First, 10 extra HP for $3000 isn't too bad. I have an MX 4700, and it's a GREAT tractor. That said, when driving on the road it'd be nice to have a little more giddyup. Also, I only have a 5' bush hog, but if I could afford an 8' I'd love to use one. There too, the HP would be nice.

About the options, it depends on your skills. Maybe LD1 can clue us in on whether his instructions would work on the new MXs. I followed his write up and added three remotes plus top and tilt cylinders for under $1k. I think the dealer wanted about a grand just for one remote. I was in the same boat about not needing them, but i really love my TNT setup, and wouldn't want to be without it. Plus, now if I find an implement that uses hydraulics, I'm all set.

I did a quick skim of LD1's instructions. Seems straight forward.

My decision point is that I'm wondering if I should keep my 72" Woods finishing mower and my 72" Land Pride blade. I say that because, I'd like to have a hydraulic blade to stay in the seat to change angle but I can add that later. I use the blade backwards to push snow out of the driveway.

So the only implements I would like to get in the near future would be something to remove snow and forks for the loader.

My dealer said the total tire width would be about 88". I don't see the benefit of spending money to go to an 84" mower. I'm usually mowing on a slope, so it might be better for me to have that 72" Woods back there. On my B3200, it can sometimes pull the back end down the hill slightly in rare situations.

I'm just trying to think of anything I should consider getting now (implements or tractor options), since I'm doing the 84 month financing. I don't believe the MX comes with the quick telescoping 3 point - that would be a nice feature.

Lastly - I have not looked at the M Series, just the MX (online only - dealer doesn't have one in stock). I just saw the loader stick on the MX on youtube and it looks like an after thought. But if my memory serves me correctly, going to an M is a large price jump for mostly creature comforts. Since I don't throw tons of hours on the machine, I'm okay with that.

I just want to make sure I don't get an MX and then go D'oh - should have got an XYZ....

Telescopic lift arms are optional on the MX4800 and standard on the others.

The loader valve doesn't feel like an add-on too me anyway. :2cents:

M series does not come with an HST. FYI.

Blade will be fine in the snow, but you really need more blade of you want to do any dirt work.

I question the 88".

I have r1's and set as wide as they will go is just a shade over 72".

/ MX Series Pricing? #60
I also questioned the 88" also. (but it turns out not by much)

Per the manual, with R4, the widest the rears will go is 61.2" CENTERLINE to CENTERLINE. I am not home to measure actual tire width but I think it is something closer to 24" than 18" when properly inflated.

So add that all up and the widest R4 tire/rim OUTSIDE to OUTSIDE track width on a new MX is probably something just under 7ft or 84".
