I turned my deck over for the first time since I've had it. It is set up for mulching, I was thinking of changing to side discharge for the spring. I thought it just had a rounded plug at the opening, but instead it looks like a wrap around shroud that bolts down to the deck and runs the entire length of the deck creating the chamber for mulching. Its a big piece of steel.
Am I right that removing this makes it a side discharge mower? What I'm unsure of is that with it removed it looks like the airflow would be wrong, the grass wouldn't be pushed toward the discharge. Has anyone run their deck both ways that could comment on this?
