Oil & Fuel MT2201d fill and drain plugs

Hi, I just bought a used 1989 gray scale Mitsubishi MT2201d. I have a couple of questions.

1. Is the gear oil "check plug" on the right side bottom of the motor.?
Above the "drain plug" on the side. One above the other.?
2.Is the small rubber plug between the shifters the "fill hole" for the gear lube.?
3.What is the small box on the left side front panel.? I feels like a variable switch.
4. Would 80wt-90wt GL5 gear lube be good for this.?
Some heavy oil came out of the drain plug. 6 qts. or so.

I ordered a manual for it but would like to get the fluid changes done now.
