I didn't like the idea of mine sitting out all the time either but I won't be able to add a lean to on the shop until next year. I decided to get a large tarp but didn't like the idea of it rubbing the paint off in the winds we get and then having to remove and reinstall it every time I needed to use or move the tractor. I then decided a metal carport would be better but I need it moveable as it would sit on the driveway in front of the shop that has 3 doors/bays and depending on what I was getting out, it would have to move. None of the metal ones were designed to be portable that I found so I made a PVC frame for the tarp I purchased. I secured the bottom PVC to boards that the tractor tires sit on to keep it from blowing away.
I must admit, in my head the cost wasn't going to be much but It ended up with a few revisions and total was about $350-400 including the tarp and boards, barely cheaper than a metal carport but it is what it is and its moveable. If I had a way to weld aluminum, I would have made it from aluminum. I actually considered buying a TIG welder for this since I've wanted one for years but couldn't justify the cost.

So far it has held up well and kept most of the elements off it. I just use the front bucket to drag it where I need it.

What size is that tarp and where did you get it?

Nice job. I bought a 13x20' Logic Shelter for the same cost and the frame is made of steel.

16 x20, TSC when on sale and had 10% off coupon. 20 x20 would have been better for the frame size I ended with.

I considered those but didn't think I could move it as needed and here it was closer to 500.00 when I looked. I "thought" I could build this all for about $250 initially, but as I progressed I made changes/improvements and PVC connectors are expensive little buggers!

I'm thinking I'll pour a 8' x 40' slab beside the shop and move this onto it for now and then add the metal lean to when funds are sufficient. That way I can anchor it to that slab and not have to move it any more.

I planned to move this by hand so it had to be light but one day backing out I didn't raise the bucket high enough and it caught the boards and moved it so I moved it back with the bucket, since then I use the bucket to move from bay to bay as needed, so it could have been heavier. Live and learn.

You do what you can and learn from the experience. Can't fault that.
