LS MT125 TLB
I'm narrowing down my SCUT choice. Based on price, it's 5k less for the LS than a 1025R or BX23s in my parts. The LS is 15.8K. The only thing that i'm not sure of is the way the FEL operates. The JD only allows you to lift or curl the bucket but not at the same time. The bx23s was like butter it would lift and curl at the same time and it easy to do and the hydrualics was operated much faster than JD, LS hydraulics speed (raise, lower fel) seemed fine and between the 1025R and BX23s. The dealer said the LS can do the lift or lower and curl at the same time, it but it was not easy for me to make it happen. This is at the dealer and no weight was in the bucket. The dealer could seaming do the up and down with adjusting the bucket curl though it did not seem easy and told me it's a sweet spot i'd get used to. Does the LS really have this function? or does it struggle at this function?, does it need weight in the bucket, is it me?, the bx23s seemed really easy to make this happen. Can a higher grade valve been put in to make this happen?

I really liked the specs, fit and finish on the LS MT125 and believe this the most likely direction i'll go due the price difference. If the jd or kb was say 2 or 3k max difference i would possible get the kb due to resale value.

Also i see a 4" bucket for trenching for the bx23s, is there a provider for a 4" bucket on the LS, how about a thumb as well?

any insight or advise?

Thanks

Rob

Unless Kubota changed their design they had s series / parallel directional valve on their BX models. This style of valve directs the oil returning from the lift circuit to the curl circuit so that multiple functions are easier to perform.

LS, Deere, etc. may not have this style of valve but you can still do both functions, just not near as easily.

On my 125, I can lift and curl, or, lower and dump at the same time. It is definately a LEARNED control. If you go too far in one direction, it will overtake the output going to the opposite control. I have 155 hours on mine and it probably took the first 40-50 hours to do it smoothly and without consciously thinking about it. Not sure if the valve is also getting 'broken in'. My MT was also 5K less than Kubota and 6 K less than JD. You wouldn't go wrong with the LS, strong capable machine. I have not had any problems with mine.

Tested mine last night after reading this. It definately will raise/lower and curl. Took a few attempts to get it going pretty decently. I have only had mine a few weeks and had not had reason to try previously.

I have to agree with LSmt125owner, my machine will do the operation but you have to get the feel. I was comparing spec's between my MT125 and the Kubota and the LS pump puts out a little more GPM then the Kubota but the real difference between the two machines is the size of the cylinders. The LS has bigger (and in my opinion) and stronger cylinders. The LS backhoe is substantially bigger then the like Kubota. The bigger cylinders are using more GPM to move but the machine definitely has the capabilities of two operations at once.

I was playing a bit today thinking about this thread. I did it a few times without a whole lot of effort. Seems like about halfway between the two directions does it. In my case it was a bit slower than either direction, but I guess that makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback. Anything on the 4" bucket? It can come with a 12 or 9" bucket, i was thinking for conduit trenching id use the 4 if available and then the 12" for bigger stuff. Ive read where people want to stand in the trench, why? When i rent a ride on ditch witch and it cuts a 4 inch trench i join the pipe above and lay it in the trench.

Hoping to go purchase the tractor tomorrow, i may go see the branson 2400 to see whats it is about and possibly a kioti as ive seen the tractor but not with a bh.

Thanks again

Rob

I drove it around a bit and played with the fel and made the decision Im having a mt125 delivered on the 25th of October. I went with just the unit and bh with a 12" bucket.
