I had the mid-mower off of my 4100, but I left the linkage on because I just had a quick couple of things to do with the loader. One of the pins that holds the linkage to the 3-pt lift arm fell out at some point and I noticed one of the mower links dragging on the ground. I dodn't think much about it at the time other than to stop and remove the other three pins and tossed the links in the garage on top of the mower deck. A few weeks later when my new sod was ready for its first mowing, I went to re-install the mower linkage and discovered that it had been bent like a raw pretzel. It took a few hours of hammering and cussing to get it back on the tractor and get the mower leveled again.

Point of the story - a few minutes of time to remove the links in the first place would have saved me hours of aggrevation.

Rick,

Not sure if the 4100 is set up the same as my 4010, but I thought the same thing was possible on my tractor. So--When I take the MMM off for a short time, I tie the links up using 2 pieces of rope. It removes a considerable amount of risk of damaging anything, but your way removes the risk entirely.
