I tried a graphite paint. It did not help much.

So many solutions...

1. Denial - Let the grass grow. I don't care if it gets long. Besides, it combats global warming by sucking down some carbon.

2. Avoidance - No time to mow the lawn anyway, since I have so any other things to do. One of those things is making up lists to post on the internet.

3. Tom Sawyer - Convince your friend that they want to mow your lawn, using their own mower.

4. Scorched Earth - Use liberal doses of a good defoliant. Follow up with green painted gravel.

5. Scorched Earth 2 - Hope that global warming turns your yard into desert.

6. Political - Apply teflon paint to your deck.

Since Google tells me there are indeed Teflon paints to be found, maybe that is a viable solution.

Check out this post starting at #8. I have not used the product but Eddie is impressed with it on his dump truck bed and others seemed to think it would be good for mower decks too.

I've used paste wax on a clean deck with some success.

I used slip plate sold by John Deere. It works for a while.

Best advice: Only mow when dry. Stay away from mulching decks/kits. Pressure wash occasionally.

Coat the bottom of the deck with oil, we use old motor oil. Then at the end of the day all that grass scrapes right off and the oil protects the deck from rust...it's a trick my wifes granpappy used in the cemetery back in the day.

It works on mulching decks as well. Some of us don't have the luxury of waiting until the grass is dry to mow. When the cemetery needs mown, we gotta mow it, dry or not. We switched to mulching decks and it keeps wet grass from blowing on the headstones which is nice.

Try the oil, it works.
