Went to check the torque of the blade mounting bolts, but I don't remember installing shredder blades on my 180 mower.

Looks like someone put a bead of weld on the edge...
I'd say you got your money out of them.👍

No welds, that is how they chip away when rocks are hit. They still do a good job on grass, tall and otherwise. Some other brands seem to be softer and kind of mushroom when impacting rocks.

Y’all didn’t know that serrated blades are a new trend? M5040 has fully committed to this new fad!

Interesting wear. I just replaced mine, no rust some obvious "hard object" impacts. They tapered from thin on the outside, to thicker toward the center. Probably lost 25% maybe a little more of material. I should add, the wear was relatively smooth and not pitted like the pict.

The rust is because it is the first time I used it this year, (took the pic before use). Where I cut with it, I wait until it is 1 or 2 ft high. The chips are caused by hitting numerous rocks hidden in the weeds. As bad as it looks, it is holding up surprisingly well.

Yes, i don't have many rocks, just where the driveway is. As a matter of fact, when i first came out to this property, there was a primitive path i was walking down, I needed something like a rock to bash something, i don't remember what, and i looked around and around and couldn't find one flipping rock.

Rocks are just like the police, when ya need one they can't be found, but mow a new piece of ground and they're everywhere.

Never heard of salting a lawn, I would have thought it would kill everything. It sure does with metal.

Rocks in the background, rocks in the foreground and rocks in the bucket. You don't need a mower, you need a chisel.
