Grading mower blade clutch

Hey Great Site.
bought a 139 hour CC hds2135 last spring. only problem i have had is sometimes blade clutch wont work when i pull switch. 2 or 3 times during summer it happened when i got off mower for a break but i let mower set about 30 mins and it worked. weather is cool now and it wont work at all. all the times before it worked on initial use of the day. thanks for your help in which way to proceed. parts or repair shop??.
i do all my regular auto repair so if a part will fix it i am comfortable doing work myself

I assume that you have an electric PTO clutch. Usually when they operate intermittently like yours, it's due to excessive gap between the clutch plate and hub. There are probably three adjustment bolts where you can decrease the gap. I don't have a service manual handy but I think the gap should be around .020 inches. Check it in three places around the clutch to make sure it is adjusted evenly.
