I have been packing ready to move more things to Vermont . Sell the house the stress of medical bills and losing a friend July 14th and the past Saturday I went and celebrated her life. Came home on Sunday and got a call from nana tell me that my grandfather is in the hospital water filling his lungs. So I hoping to get the tractor back in working order so I can bring it to Vermont. So I was thinking when it is fixed what fun it would be to take back roads from Maine to Vermont and drive it there instead of hauling it.

Nathan,

That would be fun. I helped a friend and drove the tractor for about 45 minutes to get to his place. Amazing what you see at 15-20 miles an hour!
Go for it... could be a blast.

PS:

Would be fun talked to the pastor maybe try to work it out as a fundraising ride to rasie fund to help the needed. There is a local farmer that would also be interested it doing the drive with his tractor too. Would be a blast to get a dozen tractors doing that like motorcyclist doing rides raise money for cancer. The trip in a car is about 3 1/2 hrs doing the speed limit.

That would be 1 long tractor ride! At least a day.

Sounds like a blast Nathan, and its funny, all you're doing is talking about is"operating your Kioti tractor"!

Well, it's doable and might be fun, at least for a while. I just did 100 KMs (60 miles) of road travel, but it was broken into two separate days and two trips of 25 KM each day. A/C and the radio were also pretty nice to have, I wouldn't want to do it on an open station tractor if the weather wasn't just right. Combined, my trips took about 5.5 - 6 hrs, sounds like you'd be going 2-3 times as far. Mid range is way to slow for road travel and high range would be slow with any type of hill, so I'd consider the terrain you're dealing with. A guy with your kind of luck should probably make sure his insurance premiums are all up to date before leaving! I do agree, sounds like fun.

I think the proposed travel by road is nuts. If it's 3.5 hours by car it's at least 4x that by tractor. My DK tops out at 15 MPH and I doubt the 40 HST can go any faster. This will cause considerable tire wear and sustained vibration from the treads won't do any good either. Considering LaK's chronic bad luck, this would just be begging for trouble. This is a job for a trailer and a truck.

I think it would be alot of fun. If you do it like a poker run like motor cycles is a great idea. Sounds like luck might noy be on your side. At least good luck anyways. Does'nt matter if you you have problems with the tractor or the truck you haul it with. I say go for it.

If you can take scenic/less busy route I think it would be good fun. I wonder what kind of mileage you would get? 100 miles to the tank?

So 14 hours by tractor with many breaks... or over 2-3 days. What difference would it make? 3 days @ 4-5 hours with breaks. I spent many 8-10 hours days gravelling and grading roads with mine going from pavement to gravel road with a load and a few breaks for water, quick bite to eat and bathroom break, with full range of gears in high mode. Just curious...

At this point the wear and tear on the tractor is secondary. The OP is looking for a trip back in time. You only go round once. If you have some support, like a friend with a trailer, give it a try.

I think that is way too far to attempt to drive a tractor. It would take all day.

The OP will have to get rid of the black cloud following him around before he should try a 200 mile trip with a tractor that is just plain bad luck for him. Or do you think that maybe just maybe the stories are embellished just a bit for sympathy ? I have never known of anybody that knows anybody that has as bad of luck with everything that LAK claims to have.

And they used to call me chief Black Cloud.....

I have read many of his bad luck posts and see no reason to eat a set of tires or end up with it on a trailer anyway . Thats a long drive on back roads and everyone in here knows all it would take is one car or truck to make this seemingly easy trip to become very dangerous or deadly ! They make diesel trucks and trailers for a reason ...To safely move equipment !

Yep, needs to go to the local shaman or medicine man and get the hex lifted.
I think again LaK is looking for the cheap way out and driving the tractor would be cheaper than having it hauled.
Perhaps this will be a iliad.

Are you guys all city guys? Us "Farmboys" call 14 hours on a tractor a short day. With no rock picking or bale hauling, it's an easy day too.
