BX2200
I now have 30 hours on my BX2200 and love it. I thought I couldn't be happier. I spent 2 weeks at the cabin building a rock garden (something you do in the arid lawns of the west.) The BX worked great, except...

I like the BX for ease of operation and mowing. So my tractor has to have HST, power steering, not too large, etc. But there were rocks that I could not pick up, some concrete that I took too long and too much mauling to breakup, and general concern that its not enough. I’m also thinking that I may want a backhoe. A BX22 would do that, but the FEL is the same. Also, how hard is it to take off the hoe and convert to 3 point?

How much maneuverability do I lose with a 7500 or 2410? How well do they mow? My wife wanted me to buy something that everyone will love to drive. Problem is that I don’t get any time on the tractor. I would need a bigger one to be just as easy to use.

I will be fine with what I have, but need to know your thoughts on moving up.

If this is the only reason that have to buy a bigger tractor I would just rent one to get this work done!

As for the BX22, the dealer I have been working with says just mins to remove the bach hoe! Easy as Pie!

daveMT - I get the backhoe off in about 5 minutes...slightly longer to put back on. I haven't put the 3pt on so I can't comment on the time but looking at it I would think it wouldn't be any longer than working with the backhoe.

I agree with the other post. If this is a "one-time" project, I'd rent something. The usual question is.....what will you be using the tractor for the majority of time?? C

Dave, I really like my 2410 and I really like my BX. I have said it before and at the expense of stating it again, the BX is actually very comparable to the 2410. Yes, the 2410 has more grunt and the loader lifts more but those rocks I saw in the pic may be not much better handled by my 2410. You know, just cuz you own a tractor does not mean that from time to time you might not still have to rent/hire a piece of heavy equipment to do what no compact tractor is going to do--or even if it could it would be abusive to it. I don't think your wife is going to like the 2410 or find it as easy to operate. You will loose some manuverability and mowing there is simply no comparison, the BX is an easy winner. My 2410 mows pretty decent but after having been spoiled by the BX I know there is a big difference. OK--disclaimer-- the previous is based on my tractors under my conditions and others may vary and it is of course--just rhetoric. J

The problem with renting is that I am in a remote area and even renting is more trouble than it is worth. I don't have a lot of backhoe work, but would like to know I can when I need to. It is so much easier to get it out of the garage and start working than deal with renting.
I bought the tractor assuming that most of the time would be spent mowing. Eventually that may be the case, but of the 30 hours so far, probably 2 or 3 are from mowing. The rest was spent mostly with FEL work, and some blade work.
I will also want to use it for brush mowing and use a PHD once in a while. I know that the BX can handle both, but is it pushing it too much? I recall my college economics classes. It is a matter of wants and needs. I need to mow my lawn when the grass is too long, I want a great toy! Thanks for all the suggestions.

What you need to do is add up the cost of getting the tools you need, BH, FEL, mower and others, using either the BX22 or the B2410 as the base machine. Then factor in the amount of work that you will use these for, add the fun factor and you are set.

A BH on a Kubota other than the BX22 with put a big dent in your wallet. And if you thought that the BX2200 was enough for you to begin with, the B2410 with a BH will cost quite a bit more, and may be an overkill

I spent 15 hours on the BX2200 over the past several days working on a large landscaping project at our new church. The BX handled a Woods 48 inch box scraper, 50 inch Kuhn tiller and moved, tilled or dug a lot of dirt, rocks and concrete with the FEL, and the other implements; in close tight quarters near the building and away from it. This little machine is amazing, stick with it and rent a post hole digger or a back hoe.
