My wife wanted to go fish’n Sunday (I am a lucky guy) so hooked up the boat Saturday night, took the cover off to find my new arrival. Boy are they fast, brought out the dog and the cat and they are chasing this thing all over the boat. My wife comes out and says “I am not going fishing with a mouse in the boat”. I finally gave up, set some traps and left the cover off. Sunday AM, nothing in the traps. OK, good it must have jumped out so we went to the lake. I am backing down the trailer and my better half fires up the motor to leave the trailer and there, 3 feet behind her there is the mouse sitting on the steering cable /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif I started to say “MOUSE” when I realized I better shut up, one of them will jump from this boat and I didn’t want it to be here. So I let her go as I watched the mouse, now sitting on top of the motor. Hoping she didn’t see the mouse before I parked the truck. I got in the boat, we fished as I scanned the boat all day looking for the hitch hiker. Lucky, my wife never knew, as I got him this morning in a trap. Hope he enjoyed the day out on the lake !

Mark,

That mouse will make you money... now convert that to a "little children's book" with illustrations... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Great story!

Great story!

Gotta watch those little buggers. They love to get in to the styrofoam flotation and chew it up. Also, the exposed wires seem to have a special attraction to them.

Except for the death in the trap part.

Mice are not anything. A few years ago I had racoons living in my old boat. When I got back to it in spring, every thing inside was torn up. All the seats and everything. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Don't know about the mice and coons. But, I know a guy here who went fishing with a buddy of mine in the swamp up at the head of the river a few years ago. This guys hates snakes, and the whole place is filled with them, so he takes along a little .22 auto for protection. So, they're out zipping around in this flooded out area and the boat bumps into a stump. In slides a big ol water snake. (Non-poisionous, but agressive and nasty tempered). Idiot boy pulls out the gun and fires 10 rounds straight through the bottom of the boat. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Never did hit the snake. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Wound up swimming back, and not because the boat sank. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

Isn't it amazing that the smart stuff you do will be forgotten in 24 hours. But, the dumb stuff will be remembered for the next 99 years?
