Does anyone have any experience swapping 22.5 truck tires? Ive heard it’s pretty easy but it doesn’t look very convincing. I’ve got an out of service fire truck with almost new tires and my dump truck that I actually use needs a steer tire. The fire truck tires are a tad bigger so I’d have to swap both. I’d need to dismount 4 tires and then re mount 4 tires. Should I attempt it myself or just pay the tire shop $35x4?

I would vote tire shop but it's doable if you have the tire tools and getting the bead set is a PIA as discussed in this thread, Do one and see how it goes.

Starting fluid. I too use it as a last resort and it has always worked for me....and it puts a smile on my face every time too! Just be fast with the air hose to fill the tire before the inside air cools and deflates. :cool2:

I have an air inflatable strap for small tires - lawn mower, ATV, garden trailer, wheel barrow. With proper preparation this works reasonably well. For large tires - 16.9x28 and the like - I have a cell phone and a tire dealership - Les Schwab - that makes house calls.

I too have a small 5 gallon bead seater tank, in almost new condition. Got it off Facebook Marketplace, for less than 1/3 the price of a new one. I love this thing..!! I use it mainly for smaller L&G tires on garden tractors, tillers, and lawn vacs. In the past some of they will go down over the winter to the point of breaking the seal on the rim. On the smaller tires like on the front, or the ones on the lawn vacs, 30 psi will pop them right back out, then finish to proper inflation.

The last time I had new tires installed on my duallie, he put a liquid brush on bead sealer. I checked the local auto parts store, and they had it in quart cans/brush. I got a quart, and put it on the rim off one of the lawn vacs that the tire kept going down on. Got it out on the rim with the bead seater, and finished filling to proper psi. It has stayed up since July.

Its getting harder and more difficult to find pure ether starting fluid because it's been blamed for shifting the Earth's magnetic field to the Left while we move through the Milky Way at 86,000 km/h.

So, garage and estate sales have turned me into a ether-net hoarder.

John Deere still sells the real stuff. At least up here in Canada they do. I just don't by ether anywhere else.

We have starting fluid readily available here in Minnesota. Works fine.
