Ballast Mounting Kubota Wheel Weights....?

Not of info out there on the web that I could find. I've never installed wheel weights so I thought I'd chronicle it here for other's (with lots of pictures) and hopefully get a few questions answered too.

Bought two 140ish pound weights today because I can never seem to have enough ballast and they were priced right. Originally came off an L275 and have the right bolt spacing. Working on mounting them today (on the exterior side) but have a quick question first:

What are these bushings for?! LOL. I think they must be for another wheel? Look like they could accept a stud? Maybe related to stacking another weight on?

With the info you've given, looks like you'll need bushings because the back side of the weights won't match the contour of your wheels?? So the bushings will keep the weight from contacting the wheel in the wrong place before the bolts get tight??

I'm humorously waiting to hear the story of how you get them mounted........ I made a mounting bracket and added JD weights to my M9540. It was a challenge getting them in place. No Superman here......

Unfortunately, the bushings aren't tall enough hold if off the wheel as this pic shows.

I thought about the difficulty of lifting the weights into position (by myself) on the way home from buying the dang things. Probably should have thought about that BEFORE buying them!

I'm actually kinda proud of what I came up with (a rare moment for me).





Worked like a charm too.

Still not 100% sure they're on right but they're on.



I am concerned about the paint wearing away between the wheel and weight.

Now I need another set!

Did you ever get another set? I'm looking to put some on mine and they appear to be the same style. How have they worked out for you?

Just the one set and they've been on ever since. I'd probably put on a second set for the right price but as you probably know they are hard to come by (cheaply).

Of course they are no where near enough weight for most loader work by them selves.
