mounting eyes for hydraulic cylinderr

I am fabricating something and am going to add a hydraulic cylinder fro a moving piece.

Do I need to make the eyes that the cylinder will pin to myself or can weld on eyes be bought somewhere?

Making them does not seem that difficult but I don't have anyway to drill a 1" hole for the clevis pins and torching one would likely give some unwanted slop.

Why not use a 1 in bi-metal hole saw, or a cabide tipped hole saw.

I have done many 1 in holes this way.

I did not know those worked well with thick metal?

I have used them a lot on sheet metal but never anything thick. Depending on the style of cylinder I get I will need the material to be 1/2" to 1" thick. Will those saws work on stuff that thick?

Weld on eyes, if they could be found, would likely cost more than buying a 1" bit or even taking to a local shop and having them spend 10 minutes and give you a few holes.

Once the pilot hole goes through, reverse the metal plate.

If you have a cutting torch, you can make an circle adapter and cut some descent holes.

You could make a template and cut the circle.

If you cut smaller than your desired cut, then use a reamer for the finish 1 in hole.

I also did some cad drawings and put them on a thumb drive and had a steel mill cut out the 20 tabs with holes.

I only need two of them. How much could they cost? To make them I would need to go buy the metal to begin with and they don't like selling small pieces. Then I have to cut them to size and shape and grind them smooth. Then drive around town to find a shop to make the holes. They charge me something probably whatever their minimum fee is. More than likely they won't do it while I wait so I have to drop them off and then come back at a later time and pick them up.

Figuring in the time and effort spent on making them myself this way If I could order a couple for even $50 each and have them shipped I would probably come out ahead.

So a 1" hole then. How thick does the material need to be?

Just use a good hole saw, run at a slow speed using oil. I would say around 200 rpm's and it well make a nice hole.

I was googling the wrong thing. I was searching "mounting eye" and not having much luck. I searched "clevis mount" and found this. Bumper Clevis Mounts $22.95 for a pair of them.
