Mounting a 8.5' snow plow on a SSQA plate

I have a 8.5' Western plow to go on the front of my Ford 260C.
Couple of questions...

1. should I make the plow float? Use a chain to float up and down for the incosistanceqys in the driveway.
Or hard mount it
A. I will need to back blade out from 4 garage doors
B. I will need to do a 1/4 mile long dirt drive along with a 1/4 mile of pavement

2. What size quick attach plate should I be using? I was thinking 1/2" but is that just over kill?
A. my tractor weights 10k and 4wd

I welded a 3pt quick hitch to a SSQA plate for mine. Plow frame has a cross brace that fits in the lower hooks & can pivot. Chain goes to the toplink hook, so I can float or lift the plow with curl.

You will hate it if you hard mount things. It needs to float & floating the loader arms in float dumps WAY to much weight on the plow.

As stated,you want to float the plow not the FEL.The pivot points on mine are 1in.bolts.

The same way everybody with a pickup and plow does.

It's a tradeoff.

Lift the arms or curl. Drive forward. Uncurl or drop the arms. Back up. Might need to repeat.

You don't have down pressure, but the blade weighs a decent bit & will pull most of the snow unless you've let it freeze up overnight.

I use a seven ft.rear blade in combination with my 8ft.front.Rear blade works well for pulling snow from door ways ect.

Just back blading with no weight is not going to work for me.

I have a rear blade but it makes the tractor so Unmanuverable.
