Can you prepare the soil for corn /soybean with a 2 ton heavy duty offset disc harrow ?

Hello mboncalo,

Sadly, not well enough even on good volcanic soil. You need to create/excavate a deep dead furrow on one or both sides of the Hectares you are intent on plowing to start. The other issue is the disc plow may want to skip and jump if the PTO disc plow does not have a cutting coulter in front of the first disc to create the depth needed.

You may also end up needing to break the soil up with the disc plow after it dries if it has clay in it.

Please call the Northwest Tiller folks; they can build a tiller for your 120 horsepower tractor that will allow you to till 14 inches in depth (35 centimeters), incorporate fertilizer, and plant your maize and soy all at once in 20 inch rows with a ground driven planter to choke out weeds.

You need to look at the Kubota tracked combines (the AR90 is one model that has been on the market for a long time) to harvest your soy using a grain header and a separate corn header for both crops.

It's 'plow' by the way and there are serrated as well as solid discs. Not in common use here anyway. Everything here is non driving and will be of the Vee configuration. Never seen a driven one for sale domestically, ever.
Plough. Plow.
Plow is predominantly used in 🇺🇸 American (US) English ( en-US ) while plough is predominantly used in 🇬🇧 British English (used in UK/AU/NZ) ( en-GB ). In the United States, there is a preference for "plow" over "plough" (95 to 5).

Of course the OP never stated his geographical location so I had to 'assume' it was domestic at which time it would be 'Plow' and not 'plough'. I always look to ascertain the location, always.

I find mis spelled words somewhat entertaining but remember, when you post on here (or any publicly viewed forum), ANYONE can see your blunders, not just subscribed members. You want to come across as a dork, have at it. I don't, especially when most all reply programs have built in spell correctors and some (like mine) will even correct in every language used in the modern world. I leave mine in 'Kings English', but I can correct in Swahili if I want to.

People judge you by what post on any publicly viewed forum (like this one) so it's best to put your best foot forward. Least that is my opinion. If any post is loaded with poor spelling, I don't bother answering even if I know the answer. I figure that if the poster cannot take the time to spell words correctly, or post a post in all upper case, they aren't worth a reply.

He stated he is near Morongoro, Tanzania. Tanzania was formed from Tanganika and Zanzibar which became a British mandate property in 1919 and was granted independence from Britain in 1964.

In his first post he didn't and I replied to his first post and I looked on his 'personal bio' and nowhere did it state a location and I'll leave it at that. I have to say that I've never seen a pto driven rotary disc / plough ever. I thought that was kind of unusual anyway. My discs are all pulled and have serrated discs. Never seen one for sale or in any auction and I subscribe to the Tractor House (Sandhills) auctions and have sold and bought equipment on their site, many times in the past.

There I was quietly agreeing with your previous post, and even half way through this one, when you used "I've never seen" ... all good there, then you go and use "Never seen" and you killed it all for me...

Why assume? Why bother calling it out? What do you gain by it?

We all know what happens when assumptions are made, and you've proven the rule.
