three IH 806's IH 560, unviversals, 650 and 145 two satho 650 G's and now the Kubota L280 two wheel drive diesel ersals, 650 and 145, two Satoh 650 G'S.
Hi all, been a day or twelve since I posted on any of the forums.......don't know if I can mention the name of the motor I bought to replace the greveously worn out original in this tractor, but suffice it to say it is a V twin, twenty HP gas jobby, air cooled, My plan is to use the original flywheel/clutch combo from the original motor, mounted to a half inch plate bolted to the trany bell housing with pillow block bearings to support a stub shaft bolted to the flywheel, and use a love or similar coupling to mate it to the motor. Will belt drive the hydraulic pump off the motor shaft, also. This is all due to the inavailability of parts to overhaul the original motor, as well as a water pump and other stuff. Cost of the new motor was seventeen hundred, so I think the cost is fairly reasonable, as the unit has been reposing by the "shed" for numerous years. Will be used for "choring" and mainly used on the post pounder as it is easy to get on and off, and manouver around, since I modified the steering system. If you wanna tell me I'm nuts for doing this, feel free .......just one of the many dumb things in my portfollio. Have a good one, R. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Where have you been shopping for rebuild parts for your old engine? I think we have some pretty good prices for rings and bearings and the water pump. Anyhow, I'll be interested to know how your conversion goes. I'm not sure that air cooled v twin has the power to move that 2500 lb tractor. Bill - satohparts.com

Hi Bill....knew this would happen, soons I go for an alternative method of rejuvinating this unit, I would find parts......checked all the local places for parts, even did a search on the net.....most sites that list the 650G said in their posts that they couldn't find parts....managed to find a replacement water pump, they wanted over three hundred dollars for it???? I have another one with a backhoe and loader attached, but I need a carb overhaul kit.....do you have these?? I think the twenty HP motor will be OK as it is only five HP lower than the original....not going to hook it to a breaking plow or anything......the next size motor was 25 HP and used the same block and everything as the one I bought, think they just "spooked" it a little to get the extra HP...one thing I failed to mention on the flywheel use, is the need to have it staticaly balanced so I don't wind up with vibration. Thanks for the reply and input, hope to be talking to you soon, have a good one, R.
