more tiller ????

how deep are you all tilling. once I get about a 9" down the angle on the U-Joints gets too steep and starts to bind. any idea's????

my tractor is a y2000 the tiller is a 1300, but also has 1300-1700 on it.

9" is getting pretty deep for a tiller. I typ limit my depth to the 6-8" range. How you have your top link set will impact the angle of the U-joint. Maybe you need some adj on the link. My tiller still has the decals on it and it give a dim for the top link length. Sorry don't know that dim right now.

thanks for the help. I did lengthen the top link yesterday and it helped. my top link is only about 4" at the most and from a picture posted yesterday it looks like it may be to short. I may search for a longer one in the future. I have never used a tiller before I just thought I should be tilling deeper, I must have been wrong and will keep it more shallow now.

I agree that 9" is pretty deep..... At about 7-8" I'm plowing with my gearbox's..

That is the extreme most you can reasonably till with it. I realize this is more gardening (assuming you're tilling for a garden) than tractoring, but why so deep?

Took a look at the decal with pert info. Assuming you have the correct top link assembly, the proper dim is 205mm/8.06". Decal lists different top link assy depending upon tractor model. The 205mm is proper length for the tractor models cloest to your model #.

Fortunately for me my top link mount lists tractors it designed for and my model # is included. My link is 211mm/8.3"

thanks for the help. my top link is adjustable and will reach 8.25" center to center when it is extended. So maybe I do have the correct link and I'm just tilling to deep.
