3-Point Hitch More than a hiccup

My Branson 3510ii has had a hiccup (bounce) in the 3 point hitch for quite some time, but today it became a major issue. I seem to have lost some of my hydraulic power, and if I have the hitch under load and use the loader, the hitch drops slowly. As soon as I stop using the loader, the hitch returns to the up position. I also have a new noise coming from the rear of the tractor - a hissing sound that sounds like fluid leaking through a valve. I figure I’ll have to rebuild the rock shaft piston, but suspect there could be more going on. Any help will be much appreciated!

How about some history: Age and hours on tractor, last main sump oil and filter change.....type of oil used, condition of oil removed, usage schedule like seldom, daily, winter pushing snow only....... Had the oil analyzed?

I believe this is a common issue in this model. The piston seals will leak and will start bouncing as the position control valve tries to compensate of the drop. If you leave it long enough without getting new seals, the seals will get worse and the valve can barely compensate for the leakage through the piston, then if you use the loader valve which takes all the flow of the pump, the 3 point will drop.

The sound you hear, might be the fluid going through the piston.

The really bad thing about that fluid flowing past the seals is that it can cut a groove in the cylinder if not taken care of.
If you are going to use the tractor awhile before working on the 3 point lower the control to all the way down.

I replaced the seal in the cylinder today, and all seems to be good. Haven’t put it under load yet, but the old seal was done. Part of it was missing.
