42 HP Engine. My tractor started skipping and losing power after about 5-8 minutes - finally found some good advice - removed fuel cutoff/screen from bottom of fuel tank.
Found red paste like substance had caked up the screen, restricting flow of fuel. washed out cutoff valve and fuel tank. replaced primary fuel filter which also had some of the pasty stuff visible inside (Use Wic 33472 fuel filter/water separator; keep your drain plug and install it on new filter before filling with fuel and installing.) Secondary filter appeared to be clean so I put that filter on the primary side and the new one on the secondary side.
Tractor cranked right up and ran like new- no skip. It was starving for fuel because of the restricted flow in tank.
