Why not put a quick couplings on your outlet. Put males on boom and handgun and female on pump side. That how I change back and forth

Thanks for your advice. Forester, what type quick couplers are you using. I have used ones for garden hoses before. Is that the type you use?

I've got a similiar situation but I'm not doing a controlled burn I just don't have any major water on my property except for a windmill. Before I get too busy I'm in the process of making a fire wagon/trailer of some kind (2 or 4 wheel) using from 2 to 4 of the 275gal totes. I've already purchased 2 at $80 apiece and a small gas powered water pump to pump into a couple of 3/4in hoses (most likely 100ft each). They'll be filled and ready at all times all I will need to do is hook up to truck or tractor. That should hold me until the fire department can get there.
