MF 135
I just bought a small hobby farm and it has a MF tractor (SN#9A-877I7) and a M22 front end loader. I was trying to find the year and what hydraulic oil is in the loader.

OK....What you have is a 1970....something.... US built Massey Fergusons of that era shared a common serial number sequence all the way through the model line. Long story short, it could be a 135, a 150, a 165, a 175, or a 180. (or one of several industrial models)

But it IS a 1970 model.

What engine? (3-cyl? 4-cyl?, gas or diesel)

OK again.... Is the loader plumbed into the tractors hydraulics (common oil sump) or does it have it's own pump and res.?

Just from own experience, I've ran Pennzoil HyTran in my Massey Fergusons for many years without the first issue.

It has a seperate pump attached to front of engine and the right assembly that has the lever controls is the tank and filter. I would like to know where or what filter is needed.

Is there any way to know exactly what model I have as I want to get tune up / other parts. (I.E. Alternator) as it has a starting problem. Battery is not being charged or a short that is draining battery. I haven't had a lot of time to inspect.

It is a three cylinder diesel. I know it's a perkins

Also My Uncle has changed the common sump PTO lever with a three way valve. Unsure what he meant, but the lever being pushed forward kills flow and pump dissenigrates, stick straight up allows 3 point lift to work, and rear puts pump into no flow. Has any one heard of this? I looked in the service manual, but this is not listed.

3-cylinder Perkins diesel narrows things down considerably. Probably a 135, 150 or a couple possibilities as far as industrial tractors

What transmission does it have?

3 speed & Hi / Lo lever.

As for PTO pump control that is below seat between legs, It also has on/off for PTO operation
