Has anyone had a chance to really work the 3000 TWENTYs side by side?

I am poring over the specs like crazy.

Compared to my 4310...

<ul type="square"> [*]the 3120 is a step down in almost every way.

[*]the 3320 has the same pto Hp, but somewhat higher torque

[*]the 3520 is significantly higher torque, and Hp (not to mention fuel consumtion)

[*]and the 3720 has way more of all...
But still 2900 lbs. Still about the same hydraulics. On all of them.

What will a 3720 do that a 3320 won't (if but a littler slower...) Hydraulics will take about the same time, loader forces will be the same, traction may be limited by the machines weight anf wheelbase... They even have the same wind resistance... (which matters more than you think out here... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

So if I am happy with my 4310 (I am) But get to trade anyway.

Would a 3320 be enough?
Or should I bump up to a 3520?

My reason to trade would be:
<ul type="square"> [*]to get a new machine with a new warranty.
[*] to get the 300cx loader
[*]to get a more curved hood (even just a little more...)
[*]to get at least the performance that I am accustomed to
So the 3320 SHOULD meet all of those requirements...

Now, all this is conjecture, because I might not even trade and I will still be happy. Or I might snag a toogoodtobetrue deal on a 4320/400x...

I even looked at other colors for almost 3 minutes!

I think the 3320 also has the 1.6l, whereas the rest of them have the 1.5L at different ratings.
Having owned turbo diesel trucks for years, I can't stress enough the importance of a turbo under load. It makes a BIG torque difference. Will the 3520 or 3720 dominate the 3320? I don't know, but I would say it's a sure bet that the difference will be major....

Here's my deal.
I have about three hours of mowing on a good day, four hours if the grass is tall or thick as it is this time of year.
My 4300 does just fine under normal conditions, but struggles to maintain RPM under tall, thick or wet conditions. .
With the 3720, there should be no power problems when mowing.

My 4300 has always run my 430 loader with more than enough power, but the loader can be disappointing. So, the CX300 should have the power to lift anything the tractor could handle.

Warranty is always a good thing, and we all know what it costs to fix a tractor.

Personally, I think the new 20 series has great lines, but who thinks tractors are sexy anyway /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif???

Mike,

I have had the opportunity to to own a 4310 e-hydro, use a 3320 for two days and now own a 3720. To each his own, but my thoughts are as follows: There is not enough performance difference between the 4310 and the 3320 to merit trading, unless you really like the styling of the 3320 v. the tractor you have now. I would not consider trading a "10" series for a "20" series unless looking at a 3520 or 3720 tractor. The only group to which this does not apply are those with 4210's, who could really benefit by ANY of the newer machines. With regard to my 3720, in short, it is miles better than my 4310. It offers better loader performance (much faster with no hydraulic "bogging"), better mowing performance, better blading performance, better terrain negotiating (the marked power increase really helps in difficult terrain, despite the same gross weight), quieter operation, more transport speed, LESS fuel consumption (so far), and looks better, In short, it is better. The ONLY thing I do not like as well is the clunky MFWD lever, which has yet to loosen up after 25 hours use. Everything else is much better, not even close. I concur that my 4310 would do everything my new 3720 does, but the ease with which the new machine does it is amazing. In my opinion, though, if you or anyone were to trade, the difference would primarily be seen with the 3520 or 3720 tractors, not with 3120 or 3320. I know several posters who feel strongly about the large frame machines, and I like them too; but, my 3720 does really well, is easier to haul, fits in tight spaces and has loads of power for almost any job. For me, I did not see the benefit unless my property needs expand substantially.

Mike,
John and Kyle seem to make a lot of sense...
if you are going to do it, make it worth while!

Thanks Guys! This is what I am looking for!

If it sets your mind at ease, I have been gathering bids on 3520s. To me, if I upgrade, I ought get more bang.

But, I am curious as to the real difference. You know the saying, there is no replacement for displacement... Except maybe a turbo. The 3320 has a larger displacement than the 3520. I just want to make sure that the difference is real world. I really plan on strapping this to a dyno only once or twice. The rest of the time, I kinda prefer real world performance...

With all the talk (especially by you, John) about the 4310 being underpowered. I tried to test the limits. I admit that I can push it so that it feels underpowered. I could even show my wife how to operate it so that it
under-achieves. But, she knows better. In our day to day use, the 4310 does what we ask of it, the way we'd like it done. There was a 4410 available when we purchased it. It, like the way 3x20s relate to each other, has a boost in power for all other factors being the same. (BTW in no way am I trying to refute your decision in buying the 3720. It is very possible that in your situation it is the "right" answer; and that my needs differ..)

Also, John I guess I forgot that you had a 3320 to test. That is what I am looking for. So the 3320 felt just like a 4310 to you? (it is really sad that the engines are so detuned...)

Bottem line is that I would be satisfied keeping my 4310 from a performance viewpoint. I could be happy with a 3320. A 3520 is probably a reasonable upgrade, and a safe bet.

I really like the 300cx.

Then there is the 4320...

Mike -

I'm taking delivery on a 3320 with 300CX loader this week. I'm in a little different situation than you; I'm moving up from a Ford 861 with 5 speed gear transmission and no loader. So I'm sure I'll be pleased with everything about the 3320.

I had some of the same concerns as you. I only have 10 acres that are fairly level. For what I have to do I think the 3120 would have probably been enough tractor. But for less than $1000 I figured the bigger (slightly) engine/torque would be worth it. I couldn't really justify the $3000 jump to the turbo and 3520.

Anxiously awaiting delivery on Friday....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Mike, I dont know you on the level as other poster do, but ive read just about every post you have posted /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif And if I was A betting man and this was A poll titled " What tractor will Mike get?" I would guess the 4320 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Mike

Sorry, you lose.

I had a price an a brand new 4320 eHydro with a 400X loader for $23K. I missed it...

I am hovering between the 3320 and 3520.

You read all my posts and you're not in a coma!!?
