model and serial numbers

i have several gravely 5200 series tractors, a 5220 which i have no information on, and 2 5260's . what is the difference between the two models? also the serial numbers on the engines were apparently painted on and have been worn or washed off. i need these numbers to find replacement engines. is there a way to find these numbers elsewhere?is there an alternative way to crossmatch for replacements? i'd really appreciate the help!
