I have an old 105 bushhog with 5/16 bolt hole to attach the drive line but I have bought two drive lines and both have 1/2 hole . It keeps shearing bolt even after installing slip clutch. Any idea what to do!

so.. the hole on the gearbox smooth input shaft is 7/16 .. but the hole in the driveshaft s 1/2"


I'd either drill a 7/16 (TRUE) hole thru the driveshaft perp to the original hole.. or i'd have the input shaft 7/16 hole enlarged to 1/2"

Soundquy has the right answer imho, but if you want to try something make a bushing for both sides with some 1/16 in material. It might help.

it'll help 1 time, untill that shear bolt pops, then the head of the olt, the nut, and both the shims will fly off into outter space at pto rpm speed.. :)

Thanks for waking my brain up I had been trying to drill hole in bush hog shaft and it is much too hard. I just never thought to drill smaller hole perp. to larger hole. It worked just fine

yep.. the yoke is almost always softer.. etc...

and now it works on either size :)
