Mowing MMM belt life?

I bought my tractor used with close to 400 hours and now have 480 hours, most of which is from mowing and my belt is still in great shape.

I use these PIX USA, Lawn & Garden Belt Distributor, much cheaper than Kubota. My ZD326 uses a double V belt@$100 at the stealership.

For those of you that use your Kubota's with a MMM to mow, how long would you expect the belt on the deck to last? I got about 60 hrs. out of mine when it went on me. I believe my deck is an RC60-25 mounted under an L2250. I was hoping to get more life out of it. Price of a new belt from Kubota was about $98.00. I ordered one from CBS equipment for about $51.00.

Kubota uses a very heavy blade. The rotating mass (inertia) of the blade will carry it through the grass/weeds if the RPM is high enough and the blades are sharp. I mow at wide open throttle. These little diesels are made to run WOT and you won't hurt it a bit. You can cut the RPM back a little if going slow or in short or thin grass.

I have a BX2350 with about 360 hours on it, maybe 200 hours is mowing. I am on my 3rd belt. The first two only lasted maybe 50 hours each, this last one seems like its going to last longer. I have also noticed the belt will vibrate at less than full throttle, but I always mow with it wide open. I'm pretty hard on the mower and occasionally get a stick or something caught in there.

I have had a bx22 and now a 24...Never releave tention in winters and new had replaced a belt yet.

Was the mower set-up correctly?

Hi sw03; When you ask "Was the mower set-up correctly?" What is there to set up besides making sure the belt is routed correctly?

I have a 14 year old B2400 with about 1000 hours with the original belt. Still going strong. Most of the 1000 hours was mowing, at least 75 percent.

7 mowing seasons and over 600 hrs on original OEM belt and my BX23 w/60" MMM is showing no apparant issues. Mowing season runs Mar - Nov....
I mow at just a hair under WOT, run gatorblades and finish mow 2 acres weekly and another 2 acres bi-weekly.

My 05 BX23 with over 1200 hours with a 60 mmm and mow 5 acres with original blades and belt and run WOT. I have chopped up finger size brush and have stopped the blades hitting and wedging stones or branches in areas that I have added to my finish cut area once done with the brush hog.

1998 B2400 with 1500hrs and I would estimate 900 of those on deck. Still have original belt. I do take tension off of the belt when I store deck for winter, but other than that, I just use/abuse it!
