Hello All,
This is more of a question for the hydraulics forum but Im hoping to see if any of the dealers or "Rback33" would chime in with a silver bullet.
I've got a 2415 HST which I have built a frame mounted snowplow for. All fabrication is complete and I am now finalizing the hydraulic connections. I have hoses that came with the plow parts that I purchased. When in use I will remove the loader and the plow hydraulic lift/angle will be controlled with the loader valve, not the first time this has been done. This is my first hydraulic project so I spent seval days on TBN researching fittings, hoses, threads etc. As many others have done, I used Discount Hydraulic Hose to purchase parts from using their helpful diagram that helps identify the size and type of quick connects. Mine matched right up to ISO 1/2" 7241 1-A type. Since that is almost an "industry standard" for CUTs, I was headed in the right direction, So I placed my order for 2 pairs and a bunch of misc fittings to adapt to my hoses.
The fittings come in and they dont fit. I can see clearly when I take them out of the box they are too big. I check them quickly on the machine to confirm. I call DHH to get an RMA # to return them and speak with Ken and we "determine" there was probably a problem with the print settings on my computer and it matched up with the wrong size on the print out. I clearly need the size smaller - 3/8" I return all the fittings and place order for 3/8 QD and fittings. They come, I open the box and the 3/8 are too small
At this point I'm a little frustrated, mainly because i've paid more in shipping than what either of my orders were worth!
I realize at this point I've been a little too cavalier about this and I need to do some more research. They QD on my tractor area all "Faster" brand, Series NV. Before I placed my original order I found something somewhere that said NV series are all ISO 7241 1-A interchangable so I didnt give it a second though. What is stamped on the QD is "Faster NV 38-38 SAE" on both the male and female. I went to the Faster Website and pulled up their catalog for the NV series and that model is all by its lonesome in the chart with an asterik by it that means "on request." WHAT?
see attached for chart. Also a note for the NV series at the beginning of catalog says ISO 7241-1 Part A interchageability (1/2 size only). THe catalog confirms mine are definitely (considered) 3/8" (to whom other than faster, i don't know). So It appears that my tractor has the rarest QD on the planet that are available on request with no known interchangeability.
So in speaking with Ken at DHH it seems the direction I need to go in is find a Faster distributor, purchase them through the dealer or convert all the QD to something else. I thought I would pose the situation to the braintrust that is TBN to see if someone has a good solution or has run into this before since I am constantly amazed at the experience and knowledge of others here. I'm scared to call the dealer and ask how much the QD's are to buy from them.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
