Mitsubishi D1650fd Brakes??

Howdy friends.
I just Bought a Mitsubishi D1650FD 4x4
Runs, drives, shifts great. Just need a little help with the brakes.

Interesting enough, "several owners back", someone changed the engine over to a 3 cylinder Kubota. Pretty Cool.

I can probably help, what questions do you have? You can take the brake rod loose and remove the bolts that hold the cover on. Pull the cover off and you will see two brake shoes inside.

This is from a Buck, but is probably the same as yours.

i see the rods that go back to either side of the rear... but, theres no cover. The rod connects to the lever, and bolted directly to the cast of the rear.
(sorry, weird sentance)

Is that nuts that i would have to split the rear to service the brakes??
I hope I'm looking at that wrong.

By the way, welcome to TBN, lots of good info here. The Kubota conversion is interesting. A lot would like to see pics of that too. Your 1650 originally had a 4 cylinder I think. One of my neighbors has one. Theirs is a 2wd and has experienced broken front spindles but no problem with the engine.
