I tired to break it loose but no luck. By the time I took it apart and really examined the clutch and clutch plate, it was clear it wasn't ever going to break loose.
In my case the clutch plate was stuck to the clutch pressure plate. The clutch plate was completely free from flywheel. You can see in one of the pictures the clutch plate is still stuck to the clutch pressure plate.
When I forced them apart, the clutch plate pretty much disintegrated on side stuck to pressure plate. It was nasty.
If somehow the clutch plate had been able to break loose, I'm positive the clutch plate would have just fallen apart.
