Not totally a bad idea, but it does get easier with lots of practice. How about using a backup camera system instead ?
VR3 Wireless Backup Camera w/Monitor - Wal-Mart

I have actually thought about this for the back end. I am new to this but 99% of my land is uneven, I mean REALLY uneven as in hills slopes and cliffs. Only have 3 hours on my tractor but my chest hurts from this weekend. I drove for those 3 hours twisted at the chest looking behind at my box blade when I was using the teeth to break up my solid clay soil. I spent more time looking at the teeth with one hand on the adjuster and one on the wheel than looking forward. I'd be breaking up at a good clip then BAM! the grade would go up and it felt like I reached the end of a chain when the teeth dug in and anchored the tractor. This was not once every few minutes but every few feet so I gave up and looked backwards the entire time. Lifting and lowering the box blade constantly.

I doubt mirrors would work in bumpy terrain but I also doubt I could see a monitor in the sunlight.

I just ordered a convex mirror on a arm. I'm hoping with mounting a longer arm to it, I will be able to mount it to the upper arm of the FEL and be able to see 'how much is in the bucket', but far enough back that it doesn't get knocked off...

I'm going to try mounting the arm with magnets. If that doesn't work I'll try some large metal hose clamps around the FEL arm.

So I'm thinking of putting a mirror somewhere so I can see the ground in front of me. Has anyone done this, or is it a stupid idea?
Since I've tried this myself, of course it's not a stupid idea. Actually, I mounted a mirror on my loader front quick hitch to help me see when lining up with a trailer hitch.

It works, but even with fairly large mirrors they were hard to see and vibrated so much I found it was just easier to guess at it. Plus, for the trailer hitch, if I tilted it backward enough, I found I could actually see it from the seat if I stretched a little. In short, it was more trouble than it was worth. I still have it standing up in the corner of the shop just in case...

Does your loader have a bucket angle indicator rod like a 300cx? If so you can paint marks on it for the angles you want. DrainPondDesign

this is the obvious solution already built into your machine (i assume).
so why make it more complicated? learn to use the indicator for level bucket use. yours is a small machine, should be easy...

Step 1.

Taking a tip from husband - wife teams backing a boat down a ramp into the lake . . .

Put wife driving the tractor, who does not usually do that, while you stand on the side yelling "NO! Turn the OTHER way!" (without regard to which way anything is turning or going).

Since wife will leave you after 2nd or 3rd episode of that, you will need --

Step 2.

Hook-up remote control to your tractor. Bring out shade umbrella, lawn chair and a beer. Drive your tractor from the shade, watching it work. While you wonder if family therapy would have been a better and cheaper choice than getting a tractor.

Step 3.

More beer.
