Hi Everyone, I'm the owner of a new CK3510SEHC with a mid pto and front snowblower. Very pleased so far and have many questions, my dealer has been good at answering them but thought I'd try this forum as well.

One has to do with the pto selector lever. When I took delivery I soon noticed the lever was very close to the range selector lever with pto in mid position and range in high, a real "knuckle buster"! Dealer said the only solution was to bend the pto lever and offered to do it but I chose to do it on my own. I bent it so it is now about 1 1/2" closer to the seat. It's better but am wondering if any other owners are bothered by this and if so what did you do?

Also, while working on this I noticed that there is a switch inside the side console that's triggered when the lever is in the rear pto position but no switch for the forward position. Anyone know the function of that switch?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies!

Safety switch - can't start the tractor with the PTO engaged. PTO has to be OFF and trans in NEUTRAL and BUTT in seat to start most newer ones.

Thanks for the reply. This tractor has electric pto on/off, if in the on position tractor won't start. The lever I'm referring to just switches the pto between rear and mid, it has nothing to do with the pto being on or off.

The really strange thing is that the switch is only activated by the lever being in the rear position, there is no switch for the mid position. What does that switch do?

Ok, I understand now - I guess it just moves the clutch; button out mid-pto, button-in rear pto; that's interesting. On my GC1720, I can engage both mid and rear PTO simultaneously

The reason for the switch only on the Rear PTO position is for the automatic PTO shut off.

With these newer tractors that use a electric over hydraulic clutch pack, they manage to get two modes out of the PTO.

You should have another switch that should have two positions: Auto and Manual.

In manual, once you turn the PTO on, it'll be on all the time till you need to turn off.

In Auto, it will turn the PTO off once the 3pt is fully lifted and turn back on once the 3pt is lowered. This reduces the wear caused by the extreme driveline angles on implements with short PTO shaft, like a rototiller, etc.

In Geared tractors, if you press the clutch, it will also turn the PTO off, then back on once you take your foot of the clutch.

So you're saying without a switch at the PTO Selector Lever rear position the 3 pt position would affect both mid and rear pto's which is not the intent? That makes sense, complicated though because just having the PTO Automatic switch set to Manual solves the same problem.

Never the less thank you for the insightful response. My dealer couldn't answer the question so he's contacting Kioti Tech Support! I'll share your response with him.

While I've got your attention, any ideas how to make the in-dash 4WD light illuminate on a tractor like mine with manual 4WD engagement?

Thanks again!

coldsteelva, I think "ptsg" figured it out, see his response.

Yes, the switch is just so that feature only works with the rear PTO. I don't see a point on having it working with the mid PTO, as it usually runs a mower and you don't need it start and stopping all the time.

One thing I missed before, is that this type of PTO system, with the clutch pack, will have a spring a actuated brake. Once the PTO is Off, the spring applies the brake. Using this Automatic feature with high speed attachments, like mowers, flails, etc is not very good for the PTO brake because of all the momentum it has to stop every time it turns Off. It's better suited for low speed implements like rototiller, auger, etc.

As far as the 4WD, if you already have the light on the dash and can figure out the pinout of the dash plug using a wiring diagram it's not too hard. Most companies will share the dashboard between various models and just use the lights they need for that particular model.

Mine didn't use the 4WD light either but it was already on the dash. I was able to get the pinout of the plug with the proper polarity, then mounted a proximity switch on the lever and made it work.

Here is a post I made about the process: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/century-branson/422408-parking-brake-light-5.html#post5683737

Once again, thanks for all of your assistance. I assumed activating the 4WD light was a matter of determining pin/terminal location and switching polarity. A schematic I found for an older Kioti showed the 4WD light on a pos (+) circuit with a switched neg (-). I have plenty of time to do more research as it's much too cold outside to be working on it now!
