Mowing Mid Mower and Rear PTO

Hi all! First time question although I have been reading a lot of your advice the last 2 years. I have a New Holland TZ25DA. Sometimes I have a tiller attached to the back as well as the mower in the middle. When I lower the mower to cut grass, the 3pt in the back also lowers. Is there a way to lower only the middle mower and not the back tiller attached to the 3p hitch? Even if I disconnect the tiller, the 3pt in the back still moves up and down with the mower. Is this normal? It seems that they should be seperate so you can leave your rear tiller on while still cutting the grass.

Unless you tie the 3pt up, I don't know of a way to make them separate like you want.

My JD has a "kit" that holds up the 3PH for that reason-basically short chains and turnbuckles.

Assuming your TZ is the same or similar setup to the TC, your 3PH is what actually lifts your MMM. On my TC-24 you can pin the MMM in the up position to use the 3PH, but not the other way around. To raise or lower the mower, the 3PH arms have to move.

You can keep the mower up while you use the tiller but you cannot keep the rear up while you drop the mower.

Thanks for your input guys. Always nice to confirm the things that happen to you also happen to others and not always just because I don't know what the heck I'm doing.
Seems strange though that it will work one way and not the other.
Now I have to unload my tiller everytime I want to mow the lawn. Dang it!

Why would you want all that weight on there while mowing anyway? Just get a Quick-Hitch and then taking the tiller off will be easy
