MF200B Hydraullic pump condition

I have an old Massey Ferguson Crawler, when I raise the bucket it slowly drops back down. Does this mean that the hydraulic pump needs attention? What can I do to stop this happening? Is the pump easy to access?

It could be your cyl seals are worn.

Your valve spools could be worn.

Install a hyd gage and check your pressure before you blame the pump.

Is your 3pt working OK. Can you make the 3pt go into relief?

If the loader is raising properly the pump is not bad.

For the loader to dift down your directional valve must leak some. All spool valves leak and with age and use they tend to leak more.

Cylinder seals ing bad also allow pressure to build up some on the rod end which can technically double the leakage rate through the spool valve. I.e. two leak paths Vs one.

I would suggest having the cylinders checked first before doing anything else.

Thanks for your input, I have only recently purchased the farm and the machine came with it. This is all new to me.
I am a bit concerned about pouring time and money into a dead end.

The machine is very sluggish, the loader is slow to raise and lowers back down when not being raised. The cylinders do leak a little. The 3 point drops down a bit as well, I'm not sure what it means to put it in relief (It currently has rippers attached).

As suggested maybe I should start with installing a guage to test the hyd pressure. Any suggestions on the best place to put the gauge?
