MF 1547
Hi,

I am enjoying using my MF1547 and the front loader has come in really useful. However I will soon need to start using the backend of the tractor as it were.

Currently the drawbar is in place and I have read that I may need to remove it if using the 3 point hitch combined with PTO for things like toppers etc. So I have two questions really.

Has anyone else had to remove the drawbar when using such rear implements or does it not interfere?

Secondly if I do how on earth do I remove it because underneath there is what looks like a pin but round so nothing to grab hold of and I can't see any way to pull it out from the top.

Thanks,

Kevin

If it anything like the 3 Massey compact tractors that I have owned in the past, just push the hitch pin up from the bottom. Usually there is a horizontal linchpin or some type of keeper to hold the larger hitch pin in place. I've seen several Massey compacts where individuals leave the linchpins off. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I can't seem to see how I can push it up from the bottom because there is nowhere for the part I am pressing to come up through. Would a couple of pictures help?

Thanks,

Kevin

Yes, post a couple of pictures. My Massey compacts have had rectangular boxed style receivers where the drawbar fits into. I've had a Massey 1240, 1643 and currently 1754. Never owned a 1500 series. Here's a pic from my MF1240. You can see the receiver with the round hole in the top for drawbar pin. Is your setup similar to that? You may have to look in front of the rear axle housing at the front of the receiver, side towards the loader bucket.. Maybe, someone pinned the drawbar at that end? Hope this helps.

Also, to your other question regarding drawbar interference with 3 point implements. It all depends on each individual implement and which hole in the drawbar the drawbar is set at. It is trial and error.

It is very similar to that but the hole at the top seems to be further forward than what looks like the pin underneath the drawbar. I will take a pic next time I am out.

Never had seen your tractor but most likely there is a clip pin through the top of the pin holding the draw bar in. Even if round head you probably can rotate it with your fingers if not wiggle the draw bar while trying to.

Sorry it has taken a while to get out and take these pictures. They have not come out too well but here goes.

IMG_20180310_170807.jpgIMG_20180310_170750.jpgIMG_20180310_170729.jpgIMG_20180310_170710.jpg

If these have come out in the right order the first one should show the bottom of what I think is the pin holding the drawbar in place. The second should show that it appears to be a sealed unit so nowhere to put hand in to grab the top of the pin if hammering upwards. The third should show that the two holes where a bolt is (back) and a small greased grub screw (front) do not line up with the pin. The final picture is trying to show the front of it which looks similar to ones already posted.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

** Sorry the order is back to front but hopefully you can make out what I am trying to describe **

Kevin

So, do you have a lever or something near the seat operator area to operate the hitch, extend or retract?

No, only control on the hitch at the rear is the usual lower and lift. Currently it is in the fully lowered position.
