MF 1455 Power Shuttle, 4wd, 1040 FEL
year 2003, engine model #54DD, part #4264400M91 is no longer available! It's a under the hood, vertically exhausted, 4 cylinder, 2.8 L, 55 hp Iseki made tractor for Massey Ferguson. No aftermarket supplier. No response as of yet from my email to Iseki in Japan. A MF dealer suggested I try to make a 1445 muffler ( that's still available) work. Does anyone else have a suggestion as to how to solve my problem. I might go to a Kubota Dealership to see if they use a similar muffler (with slight modifications), like the M6040 or the M5140. I'm going to try and take some pictures and measurements of my muffler set-up tomorrow.

My IH3444 has a retrofitted standard large plain automotive muffler, most likely larger than the original with a taller stack to get the exhaust up and out of my face and breathing area. You can retrofit just about any muffler as long as the pipe diameter remains the same for splicing. Diesel engines are slower speed engine, so I think there is no tuning advantage to muffler fitting.

Thanks for the info, that was my next plan. Just was sure what size of muffler or how to secure a above the hood muffler. My under the hood muffler is bolted to the engine in 2 places.

Seems the Kubota under the hood and vertical exhaust pipe muffler, have a 4 bolt flange vs my 2 bolt. Looks like I'll have to install a above hood muffler. If I cut off my muffler off where it's welded to the flange, about 3" of pipe will remain to attach enough length of pipe for a new muffler to mounted in it's new location. Going to try to use the old hole through my hood, which will require a bended pathway. Bracing could be added where my current muffler's far end is secured, above this point is where the exhaust pipe would go through the hood. This will be done to help reduce any vibration of the muffler!
