MF 40
Hi from Australia, Have just got an old MF40 (57 model I'm told) and the power steering always turns to the right, it can be steered but when you let go of the steering wheel the steering goes hard right.
I have tried adjusting the spool on the steering housing but it seems to have no effect.
any ideas would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks Eric

G'day mann.
Check and make sure the hoses going to the power steering rams are not crossed over.
The adjustment of the power steering valve goes like this, disconnect the small adjusting turnbuckle ,the one with the hex adjusting nut in the centre.
Undo the lock nut on the steering draglink, this is the one that connects the steering arm to the power steering link,, Tighten the adjusting screw down till it wont go any further then reinstall the adjuster make it longer or shorter which ever it needs so that the small pin goes in nice and easy.
When you have done this UNSCREW the clearance adjusting screw SEVEN TURNS and lock the lock nut.
That is the linkage set .
Change the power steering fluid and the filter and if all is o.k. you will have the best power steering ever.
Regards.
Hutch.
